As long as I don't get my Lowculture Membership Card revoked... erm, which one is Christian Cooke and what's he been in before?

He played Jason Donovan's often shirtless son in Echo Beach, he played the gay boy biker in love with Richard Armitage in George Gentley, he was The Son in The Chase and Where The Heart Is, and he played a gay in Casualty.

Paulie: he had his name in the opening credits, not sure about 'and'.
And I gushed like a big girl when The Doctor and Martha hugged. Oh, and I loved Donna putting down the Colonel guy.

The Sontarans were like a TK Maxx version of The Klingons. They're brilliantly naff.

Martha is the first to get an "and" ! That was great. Really epic. And was Mr Cooke the strangely hot Evil Boy Genius or the rather attractive soldier.

That was...okay. As with the rest of the series, the strongest bit by far was the Doctor-Donna relationship. I love Donna so much. Donna and Martha were great together.
The Sontarans are just a bit shit though. And the potentially dramatic Cribbins-killing ending was totally made into bathos by the stupid chanting.
Evil genius was much hotter than the soldier.

First disappointment of the series for me. It felt a bit underwhelming and thrown together - ideas just sort of wandered in, flapped around for a bit, and wandered off. The Doctor escaping from the sat nav was especially rubbish. I'm hoping it will be redeemed by the second episode.
(I may just be bitter because they brought back Martha Jones, gave her two scenes and then made her into an evil clone instead of just letting her be awesome. And they also didn't feature her hot fiance).

Helen Raynor being given another two parter after the horrific Dalek two parter last series was a mistake. First dud episode this series.

I liked it, and I got very excited by the 'next week' and my family just looked at me with vague pity.
I like Donna more and more.

Aside from the dud cliffhanger and the filler sequence of Donna's flashbacks (which Catherine Tate managed to make seem moving -- she really should focus on dramatic acting, she's phenomenal), I enjoyed the episode. The Sontarans only worked as serious villains in their early stories, when one would go around through time or torturing people. They were fun here in a slick way, and a nice contrast to the more serious menaces. The soldiers (Christian Cooke and the one who found the clone area) were very good eye candy. I thought School Reunion was a wonderful episode slightly cheapened by the cattiness between Sarah Jane and Rose, so I was happy to see Rose and Martha act like adults.
Donna and the Doctor sending up the weepy companion goodbye was just priceless, and Donna's scenes with her grandfather were also very good. I really wish Donna could get her own spinoff.

I thought it was a great episode, and Catherine Tate was amazing as always - the scenes with Donna and her grandfather were touching and superbly acted. And yes, it was good to see Donna and Martha having jovial friendly banter at the Doctor's expense and not being catty and rubbish.

I loved it.
I've enjoyed the series so far but have just not felt engaged at all, however at last with this episode I did. I think it was because the last couple of episodes have been so obviously written and it's all felt a bit forced and bordline preachy for my liking. This episode didn't feel the need to make everything so obvious and all the better for it.
And for the first time since the first episode Donna was written as a proper character and not a series of moments on a Donna checklist (comedy moment, big moment of wonderment, bit where she cries, a couple more one liners and last but by no means least the bit where she challanges the Doctor in some stupendously obvious way). Much like the episode painted with finer strokes and therefore much more believable and engaging and allowing Tate to actually shine.
