Be Back Soon! I knew it!
And they get to sing As Long As He Needs Me as they leave, while the other Nancys take their medallion. Bless.

Cocking hell. And I had Brian Capron in the first week of SCD too. I apologise wholeheartedly to Amy for being the kiss of death, and also to Jonny, because he's DOOMED.

I really didn't like Francesca - she overacts everything and I thought Amy actually gave a more emotional, better acted version of Tell Me On A Sunday.
Jodie's song choice had me worried but hooray she pulled it off & I thought Keisha vocally was AMAZING.

The exit song was rubbish (in the way they had to mix 2 songs) Plus removing a locket is no way as gutwrenchingly mean as robbing someone of their coat. I miss Joseph....
One of the Nancy's properly looks like a tranny. I'm not sure which one.

Jessie - River Deep - Mountain High (6/10)
- does she want to stop curling her top right lip already?
Jodie - Chasing Pavements (8/10)
- my heavy bias could probably lose 8 stones too, but she's made a song I used to hate become stuck in my head. I wonder when her boyrfriend will pop the question.
Tara - Suddenly I See (6/10)
- "suddenly I see-ee-eeh" was repeatedly hysterical but she was awful, and reminds me of Claire Sweeney.
Ashley - Black Velvet (6/10)
- worst offender for the annoying vote-for-me-I-can-really-do-this camera stares whilst singing.
Amy - Respect (7/10)
- I'm very surprised she never developed a following, I thought this was one of the highlights in terms of being incredibly chirpy and uplifting. An extra point could have been gained if she had stuck to the Sister Sister version that celebrates the nutritional value of broccoli.
Keisha - Mad About the Boy (8/10) - I think she, and her cleavage, is incredible and gloating about her figure was ill-advised brilliance, which thankfully did her no harm. The Joker Is Me next week please, with Katch & Kim both taking the place of John and Denise to judge it.
Francesca - Hero (6/10)
- Looks like My Little Pony and sings like she's gargling anti-depressants. I loved Denise being put on the spot, her deliberation was priceless, not to mention briefly awkward.
Rachel - About You Now (9/10)
- She blew me away, I loved the way she sang this and agree about wondering if something went wrong but I do think that was just the arrangement they went for. She was the best for me. I would go as far to say that she had abandon.
Samantha - I Love Rock 'n' Roll
- I feel like Amber from Clueless in my disbelief, thought she lacked stage presence but maybe I just wanted a Christina Aguilera-style performance, which might not have been appropriate.
Sarah - Get Here (7/10)
- gorgeous vocal, but she has a face like a jammy dodger biscuit. Bland song choice, and there's no way she is up to this role sadly but surely.
Cleo - Who Knew (7/10)
- Her gestures were good in places, the song of course sounds exactly the same as About You Now but she did a decent job.
Niamh - The First Cut Is the Deepest
- My sister hates her, she didn't do anything but I did like the refusal to express her face the whole way through (beats moisturizer I guess).
I must say, I really welcome Barry Humphries onto the panel: sure he did praise everyone but no one else delivered any particularly devastating critiques anyway.

If past competitions are anything to go by, if she loses they'll be married within the year. If she wins he'll be dumped and she'll be dating Barry Humphries. Francesca reminds me a bit of her that did Lady of the Lake in Spamalot. I think it's the mouth and husky voice. It doesn't mean I like her. I was amused at the way Denise distanced herself from her after the rubbish performance.

In all the excitement I forgot to mention Tara's dress, which was staggeringly awful. An orange rubber effect bust with a lampshade hanging off it?
And you are right Gordon about Jessie's top lip; she also points a lot as she's singing, and if you're not Posh, that's not a good dance move to repeat.

They mixed two songs on Any Dream Will Do as well, though. I still don't think they'll ever match the glorious cruelty of the 'So Long, Farewell...' sendoff from How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?, with all the people who got more votes than you did standing there waving you off in unison like marionettes.

Obviously it's nice that they all get a chance to do As Long As He Needs Me before they go, but it's not really a "goodbye/rejection" song in the same way as Close Every Door, so it doesn't work quite as well.

Betting update: After the first week, the bookies now have Rachel, aka AboutYouNow Nancy as favourite, while Samantha aka Swimbint Hotpants Nancy's odds have shortened, while Jessie and Jodie's have stayed the same Keisha's odds have lengthened, and Tara, too. Francesca's odds have doubled, something I foresee happening to her chin by the time she's 30. Update: There is news of Zoe Tyler! Like former Apprentice candidates, Zoe is acting like someone who's been fired and is sharing her thoughts on the happenings of the show with a newspaper. Her newspaper of choice is The Stage, and while it's not available online, you can buy it every Thursday for £1.30, or just read it in the shop. blogs.thestage.co.uk/tvtoday/2008/03/id-do-anythings-francesca-should-have-been-dropped/And she was also on Radio 5 this morning, between 8.30 and 9, being interviewed about Dame Kevin Spacey's complaints that ALW shouldn't be making himself richer via the BBC. I was tempted to listen to it again on the website, but can't be arsed, but I don't think she was being especially coherant: lots of "oooh I don't knows".

I've had to wait ages for my Mum to be home to watch this.
I really liked it, I thought the standard was pretty high although a bit shouty. Jodie, my sweepy! is still my favourite although I should be supporting Keisha, it was very weird seeing her fake studying in the library. I bet she gets extentsions on her essays!

I've just remembered my Nancy dream I had earlier this week. I was with Elaine Paige and two time Academy Award winning actor Meryl Streep at some formal dinner event, and was chatting away about I'll Do Anything and how John Barrowman compared one of them to EP. Elaine was furious and all "how dare he" about John and was getting more worked up. Meryl stayed very quiet, and I only remember she was there because I was gushing when I was introduced to her.
I think it's a sign that Babyface Nancy isn't going to win.

I wonder what Ruthie Henshall makes of all this: I would rather see her dishing out notes to budding West End Stars than the ever loathesome DVO. It would make more sense than her telling Nyarstin to watch his lines too.
She would be much more relevant and at least her points would be based on legitimate issues facing performers rather than which one of her mates had entered the competition.
The panel are totally redundant on this I think - noone has the public swaying opinion of Cowell, the bitchy but legitimate pointers of Revel Horwood or the intense professional resume of Amanda Holden.
It's just all a bit 'Yeah I thought that was okay but watch your tuning.' or 'That was okay but there was just something missing for me'
In terms of the Nancy's - there was a big dip in quality tonight, with even my beloved Bridget Jones Blackpool Dear Deirdre Garlic Mushroom Nancy being totally underwhelming.

This show isn't gripping me. I don't love any of the Nancies, so I don't care about how they do. My absurd love of Keith Jack kept me watching Joseph last year, but I might bow out of this like I did Dancing On Ice as soon as Greeno left.

I feel I'm going the same way- the problem is, the ones I liked tonight-Sarah and Ashley, ALW and the panel didnt, and the ones I hated (Rachel,Niamh and Orphan Annie) they loved- so when it comes to the sing off the shit ones will get to stay.
I really think they have fucked up this format now and its gonna be a flop compared to the previous shows. So dissapointing.

Andrew Llloyd Weber looked bored throughout. At one point he was on his phone! Probably texting his friends about Doctor Who.

I didn't agree with the judges either. The stupid one in Yellow who sang beautiful was terrible, she was clutching her sides and grimacing and they called her a good actress!?
I loved my sweepy, and 80's Nancy.

Denise is live on News24, carrying The Torch.
I'd like to think she'd have put up more of a fight than Konnie, had someone tried to snach it off her.

She must have picked it up at Morrisons.
I'm outside of the sweepy but I'm backing Jessie as my favourite. I have also liked Francessca, Cleo and Samantha so far. I haven't been keeping up with the thread nicknames but I've been using my own - here are some of them.
Francessca - Nepotism Nancy Sarah - Tiny Nancy Kiesa - Not-Basset Nancy
