He seemed to revel ostracising Shabahz, a man who was clearly mentally ill, far too much. I know that was a million years ago but it prevented me from liking him for the rest of the series.
I think his teasing of Michael is actually quite amusing and I know I'd wind up the more flammable types in the house out of sheer boredom if I was there, but I do think he only picks on him so much cuz Michael is the first halfway 'intellectual' person to enter the house and sort of ruins Richard's superiority Dr Phil bit.
That said I find Michael much worse with his faffy drippy "God is love" shite.

Michael is thick as pigshit. There's nothing intelligent about him. And I hate people like that, who literally have no sense of humour and just sit there looking blank faced and angry at the world because they don't understand.
I like Richard. I think he's quite lonely though. There's something almost sad about him but he's one of the only ones there that has a genuine sense of humour about themselves. Most of them get offended when people look at them. I think he is funny and people in there just take him the wrong way because they need a character to blame for their own insecurities.

He is indeed dim, though 'halfway 'intellectual'' is in the context of the likes of Mikey, Imogen, Glyn, Spiral, Jayne, etc. His worst 'I am CLEVER!!' moment was when he spluttered out all that ridiculous jargon about how the weights infringed on gender equality bla to the bla.
I don't feel sorry for Richard being lonely. If he was popular in the house I think he'd be unbearable. I agree about the sense of humour thing though; it's incredible that people as ridiculous as Michael and Spiral can take themselves so seriously.
A nice sense of self deprecation is actually why I like Aisleyne so. "Nah it's just black innit". Big Brother 7 is verily her yard.

Most of them get offended when people look at them. I think he is funny and people in there just take him the wrong way because they need a character to blame for their own insecurities. I find this an especially articulately written observation about Richard. When the whole Shebazz thing happened, Richard acknowledged that he had become a bully, and had become something he hated. Has anyone else acknowledged something negative about themselves in the house? Yes, Richard is patronising and condescending, but the other people in there deserve to be patronised. He makes catty comments to people's faces rather than assassinate their characters behind their back. Out of all the housemates left in there, Richard is the only person I feel I know something about, mainly because he's the most articulate and expressive person.

Has anyone else acknowledged something negative about themselves in the house? One of my favourite things about Nikki was her apologies the days after a tantrum. She was fully aware she was being awful after the fact and said sorry most of the time.

I don't feel sorry for Richard being lonely. If he was popular in the house I think he'd be unbearable. I don't mean in the house. I mean there's something about him that strikes me as he's generally just quite a lonely man. I bet he doesn't have proper close friends. Just some of the things he says sometimes and, although I'm sure I'm reading way too much into it, the way he lies in bed at night. He sometimes lies there with his eyes wide open staring into space and it just makes me think he feels alone in the world. Haha in depth analysis of someone who's probably just scared of the dark. but I just get that vibe off of him. I think he's savvy on the outside but not entirely together on the inside, but he does very well at hiding it. He's one of the only interesting characters in the house. I couldn't give a fuck if Spiral or anyone was lonely. They can go live in a bin for all I'd care.

Just now, when Officer Richard and Officer Suzie were talking to the inmates, did Richard say "We're missing you all, even you" with the latter part directed at Imogen?

Out of all the housemates left in there, Richard is the only person I feel I know something about, mainly because he's the most articulate and expressive person. Totally. I started off disliking him at the beginning, but am warming to him as I know more about him and see him develop as a person - something that has happened often in previous series of BB, but has failed this year with people such as Mikey and Imogen, who seem as unknowable as when they came into the house. I am also beginning to find Richard quite funny - among the endless analyzing psychobabble are some genuinely witty lines, and I like that.

I love him taking this piss out of Spiral. "Tie my laces" was a definite "your best bits" moment.
What will Mikey and Imogen's be like? Er......fucking....nothing....

I dunno, Imogen pulled a face in a face pack yesterday, I bet that will be in there...
Richard doesn't bother me so much these days. Yes, he can be patronising but he is also entertaining. I doubt I would be able to resist talking down to some of the others if I was in there. I'm a bit intolorent with idiots.

Oh God, I cried when his letter was read out - I'm becoming my mother! Now I like Richard quite a lot but I'm a bit confused he's in Big Bro when his mother's so unwell - of course it's not my place to judge and I know nothing about it all but, wow, I can't imagine doing that. Spiral said 'I can't read this' - too right you ignorant fool. Rappers are supposed to be articulate, you don't even know what 'chemo' is. Come on does nobody watch Holby City any more? (probably not)

At the beginning of the week, Richard 66-1 on to win, with only Suzie behind him on 100-1.
Mid week he overtook Imogen, then Mikey, and has now leapfrogged Aisleyne and Jennie into 3rd place. Poor Mikey's odds are slipping faster than an OAP on a polished floor.

I read somewhere that his Mum is in Canada and waiter Richard can't afford the airfare, violins anyone?

How could they all be hooked to BB if they weren't in Britain though?

How could they all be hooked to BB if they weren't in Britain though? Via the wonder of YouTube? Considering how quickly we can download episodes of Desperate Housewives or Lost that have just been shown in the US, there wouldn't be any difficulty in Richard's family somehow downloading the shows on a daily basis.

Yeah but that's cause there are people that upload Lost etc, who uploads daily episodes of Big Brother?? I just assumed that meant that they were living over here too.

I haven't been watching the show, but is it wrong that I hate him based entirely on that utterly ridiculous press picture of him where he's pulling a stupid face and wearing a stupid hat and just generally looking like a twat?
