I'm really in 2 Minds (sorry) about this. It's great she's come back with something unpredictable and a track which will stimulate a bit of debate rather than just a copy of CGYOOMH.
However, I don't really think it's enough to launch an album - additionally I think the video is rather embarrassing and Alison Goldfrapp will be sitting at home in her platform shoes chuckling to herself
I'm actually more excited about Girls Aloud's Call The Shots which is beautiful

Her singing drives me insane, I just remember when it soared on Better The Devil You Know, but this is a really good song ruined by her I'm-a-child-prostitute-in-a-40-year-old-womans-body lark. Also, I know she's never in a million years fat or even chubby, but something about her catsuit made me think of this: It was actually her face more than anything else that makes me connect the two.

The video would be smashing if it was the fourth of the album campaign and she was busy touring Asia so had to film it in an afternoon. It's just a bit lazy and 'meh' otherwise, also I HATE the curly hair and black outfit. The only bit with any oomph is the first shot of her in the catsuit.
The song is very good though and I still am most excited about the album.
*is off to try the new Aloud song that jerriblank mentioned*

Well, it's probably worth me creating another thread for the Aloud's latest masterpiece but THAT'S how you create a real grower of a song Miz Minogue! Plus the lyrics are heartbreaking.
Back to Kylie though, it feels as though the rockyish, instrument-led 2 Hearts will really feel out of place on an album produced by Calvin Harris, Freemasons, etc. I agree with you Nurse - it just feels a bit 'meh' for Kylie

The only bit with any oomph is the first shot of her in the catsuit. See my avatar! The only part of the video that I really liked- the rest is just so dull, cheap and an obvious rip off of Ooh La La. Its a shame, the song is great and deserved a good video- much like my feelings on Giving You Up.

I think I prefer Phil Collins' Two Hearts to Kylie's 2 Hearts. When I heard the Mauve Kish version I thought "oh, it sounds like Ooh La La" and Kylie's version sounds even more like Ooh La Laa, which isn't a bad thing as Ooh La La is great, but it's not as good.
I've listened to Call The Shots a few times and I love it (except Nadine's adlibs when she echos Nicola's bits) although it doesn't sound like an immediate single. In fact I'm not keen on Nadine's voice in the song, Sarah and Kimberley and Nicola in particular seem far more suited to the tone of it. For some reason I can imagine Morton Harket singing it.

Hmm. I'm underwhelmed. The chorus is good, but the verses are rubbish, and it just feels so...anticlimactic somehow. I was thinking on my way to work this morning how the problem with Kylie is that she's forgotten how to be fun, and this exemplifies that. There's nothing fun about it.
The new Girls Aloud single, however, is aces as.

Having finally ditched that other forum (and not a day too soon) I'll share my thoughts here:
I agree with the comments about her being unpredictable. No matter what we think she's going to come back with, she always seems to wrong-foot us. I really like the song, though having heard the Kish Mauve version it's a shame she hasn't done much with it. The video is great too - it looks like she's been let loose in Alison Goldfrapp's dressing-up box, but so what? Kylie's hardly known as an innovator, is she?
The Girls Aloud single is the best thing they've done in ages. God bless Xenomania for casting aside the oh-so-clever song structures and everything-but-the-kitchen-sink production and remembering how to simply write a great pop song. See also the Sugababes' Never Gonna Dance Again.

I do like the song, not so much the video, but I'm not overly sure of it as first single material - album track or third/fourth single, maybe.
but hey, I loved IndieKylie and TrendyDanceKylie so what do I know?

but hey, I loved IndieKylie and TrendyDanceKylie so what do I know? EVERYTHING. (Although I love all the Kylies, it's just that Impossible Princess and the first half or so of Body language are particularly ace.) The new Girls Aloud single is so disappointing that I was really quite miffed when I heard itcried myself to sleep last night. It's so dull and I get the urge to switch off (and listen to 2 Hearts actually) half way through. I usually love a Girls Aloud ballad, but this is about a tenth as good as Whole Lotta Histria and a seventh as good as Life Got Cold.

Having heard a sort of megamix thing of 2 Hearts and three of the X tracks I've come to appreciate it's its brilliance more. I'm quite excited about the album now although still excited more about Tangled Up.

Isn't it just? The One and Like A Drug sound smashing, and In My Arms sounds even better alongside its X brethren. The single still 'does the job' for me too.
I can't believe that there's a chance that Kylie could be number one followed by the Spice Girls. Ace.

I've just heard a sampler for the whole album, and it does sound WOWOWOWOWOW indeed.
The Cathy Dennis song sounds a bit weak but I'm on scale of one to ten, my excitement for Kylie has been cranked up to 8.

I'm not much of Kylie obsessive or that – but for what its worth, I reckon 2 Hearts is stonkingly good. Best thing she's done in ages. Though maybe its just cos i'm a sucker for its Goldfrappyness...

2 Hearts came on in a gay club at the weekend. The dancefloor cleared. I hope this isn't the gays deserting her. She's got no hope of a number one if it's left up the the straights.

Stupid gays with their refusal of anything which isn't bubbly electro pop. This song continues to be brilliant.

Yes, it's a proper dancefloor emptier. It's just a bit on the slow side, I suppose. Girl's Aloud's Sexy! No No No does exactly the same, but for the opposite reason - even young gays have been known to break a hip trying to keep up with its astonishing fastness.

I'd never thought of it that way. I always put it down to the song being tuneless, annoying and generally shite. 2 Hearts isn't really a dancefloor song - I'm assuming she's saving that for the second or third single.

Have just heard the full album teaser - it feels like a real mixed bag from the previews unfortunately, however the sheer amazingness of The One (Kylie meets The Freemasons and gets dancing) and WOW (Spinning Around mixed with Olivia Newton John in day-glo) make up for any R&B rubbish.
