I bought Q magazine today (£4.10!!!!!) as I saw Girls Aloud's name on the cover, but only realised afterwards they were amongst lots of artistes asking Madonna questions, even though in their case it was Sarah Harding, not the Girls collective. Anyway, Madonna comes across as quite dull in her responses. Even though I've got all of her albums, a fair few on vinyl (Like A Prayer comes out every now and then for a sniff) I really don't think I'll bother with Candy Shop, even downloading it from an illegal source. I read that and thought she was a smug, self-important twat. Her response to every question was either "Stupid question, next" or "Don't know this person, next".

I don't know, '4 Minutes' really isn't doing the business for me. It's not a patch on 'Maneater', for example.

I think Give it 2 Me as the next single will be a much friendlier release to Madge fans than 4 Minutes (i.e. you can dance to it properly)

I really like the album (apart from Spanish Lesson, and Incredible - which goes on a bit).
I am very surprised.

I quite like '4 Minutes' actually- I even like the Justin Timberlake parts, and usually every time he turns up on other people's records or music videos it annoys me.
I think Madonna, Justin Timberlake and Timbaland have all made much better songs than '4 Minutes' though, and I agree with others who say that it's odd for Madonna to be jumping on the Timbaland bandwagon at this late stage when usually she gets the trends just before they become big, but '4 Minutes' seems to have done well in the UK and US charts, so I suppose it's working in that sense.

Her voice on 'Incredible' is incredible. And not in the good way. Actually, her voice is shockingly bad throughout. I'm not one of those who care about a technically good voice at all, but this is taking the piss.

Oh dear, after a few listens now I only seem to be going back to a few tracks for more: Give It 2 Me, Heartbeat and Incredible (which despite being rather grating does have the most amazing Middle 8).
I think it's very telling that the strongest tracks here are from The Neptunes and not Timbaland.
Perhaps it'll grow on me but compared to the usual experience of listening to a Madge album for the first time, this is very underwhelming. It just doesn't sound like a Madonna album but rather an electronic hip hop album featuring Madonna.

I thought her performance at Radio 1's Big Weekend was amazing, specifically the last three songs: Hung Up; Give It 2 Me and Music (mixed with Put Your Hands Up For Detroit). She looked like she was really enjoying herself.
I LOVE Give It 2 Me, am v. pleased that it's the next single. Also love She's Not Me.
Miles Away is just dire. As my boyf said "If a complete unknown released that it wouldn't go anywhere".

I think it's very telling that the strongest tracks here are from The Neptunes and not Timbaland. It's quite a turnaround from two years ago when Timbaland was riding high on the huge success of SexyBack and Maneater, while the Neptunes' most high-profile release was Gwen Stefani's godawful Wind It Up.

The guitar didn't work the first time she-tried it for the Drowned World (or was it Re-Invention) tour, so why on Earth is she dragging it back again. I thought the rest (bar the Whiley interruptions) was ace though, especially Candy Shop which comes alive done live. But despite this, and my continued surprise appreciation for the album, she can stick her over-priced stadium gigs up her Turkish Delight.

I know what you mean about the guitar-playing, but it's good that she reinvented the song rather than just sticking on her leotard and some rollerskates.
Candy Shop definitely comes alive done live. It reminds me of when Gwen Stefani did "Hollerback Girl" on TOTP: I hadn't really "got" the song until then. But once I saw her with the brass band and the pom-poms, it all made sense!

Well her new video isnt gonna get many people excited- unless you thought Kylie's All I See promo was a masterpiece:

It's a rubbish and lazy video with far too many vj shots (ie, any).
Although it's reawaken my Pharrell lust. Would!

I listened to Hard Candy the other day (somewhat late, I admit).
3 best bits:
* The horn sounds at the beginning of 4 Minutes. * The whistle in the middle of She's Not Me (it sounds like the beginning of a party that never really gets going) * The chorus of Miles Away.
Spanish Lessons is unintentionally hilarious. "Me Gusto means I'm well into you". Street.

I saw the video at the gym over the weekend.
Yes it's cheap, but I still think it's quite good. Pharrell + sunglasses = hotness to the power of 10.
I also like the editing of the breakdown bit.
That is all

I dont get the love for Miles Away- its beyond dull and a pale imitation of the song its copying (I'm sure I dont even need to say what song it is).
