As I watched the tears and aftermath of Becca's death in Hollyoaks, I kept saying to the tv, "Cheer up, guys. She's only gone to The Bill..."
She's going to be a "rookie cop" apparently, and will presumably be mates with Louisa Lytton.

Sinbad from Brookside is joining Corrie now, and, in an almighty acting stretch, will be playing a loveable rogue who "has no qualms about dodging the taxman".

She's going to be a "rookie cop" apparently, and will presumably be mates with Louisa Lytton. That's so spooky; Joel and I were just talking about her and trying to guess where she'd end up. Joel suggested Casualty and I suggested one of those cosy ITV Sunday night dramas, so we weren't far off. Good for her, anyway. She impressed me enough with her death scene to make me want her to find more acting work, even if it wasn't necessarily in anything I was going to watch.

It saddens me immensely that when I saw Cindy off Hollyoaks in Corrie I actually thought "Stephanie Waring!" rather than "Cindy from Hollyoaks!" Why do I remember the names of actors who left bad teen soap operas years ago?
(Also, wasn't her baby in 'Oaks called Holly as well? Doubleplus intersoapiality!)

I dont know if anyone mentioned that the woman who was in Emmerdale for years, had a mad husband who wanted her to be like his ex-wife (who he had killed) and eventually killed her by throwing her (well a stuntman wearing a bad wig like hers) off a cliff PLAYED the registrar of Alexander and Jacqui McQueen in Hollyoaks.

Ooooh yes I noticed that too - she was Rachel in Emmerdale, thrown off the cliff by evil Graham.
And yes, I remember obscure facts like ex-soap star names - she's called Glenda McKay,

More Hollyoaks diaspora -
The erstwhile Nicole Owen, sister of Rug Owen and Sam the Good Rapist, is starring in today's Doctors as an unwell person. She looks really orangely fake-tanned.

If anybody's interested, Lucinda Cowden aka Melanie "Hurrgh hurrgh hurrgh" Pearson/Mangel from olden-days Neighbours is in Doctors (series 9, episode 20: "Green Pastures") on Monday 21st May 2007 at 14:05. The duration of the episode is 26 minutes and 38 seconds, but the chances are she won't be on the screen for that entire time.

A resurgence of Jambo from Hollyoaks (I know he's been in other things since, but I don't know him as anyone but Jambo) today in Eastenders, playing - of all things - a cosmetics rep.

The duration of the episode is 26 minutes and 38 seconds, but the chances are she won't be on the screen for that entire time. I actually saw that episode! I had it on in the background whilst I was doing some painting for an upcoming practical exam. It was so mental, I thought I was tripping from the paint fumes. We saw her all hyper and happy in a taxi, before she arrived at the practice and tried to marry the man who replaced Christopher Timothy (I imagine most of the older viewers don't even realise that Mac left) after believing that she had been chatting to him on the internet for a few months. AT THE EXACT SAME TIME a man in a factory fell over or something, and refused to go to the doctors. He later collapsed and we found out that the reason he refused treatment was because he had been pretending to be the Old Man Doctor on the Internet to woo the Australian lady because he was ashamed of working in a factory. I think Australian lady still got with him anyway. I didn't recognise her from neighbours, and just assumed she was a drama school brummie putting on a terribly stereotypical Oz accent. Shows how much I know.

The arrival of not-Beth Jordache in Hollyoaks has confused me. Wasn't she last seen in Brookside aiming to become a social worker of some kind? Hopefully she buries Tom under a patio. Alive.

Has she lost weight? I'm sure she was fat in Brookside.

And of course she's in the 'Oaks as a social worker. Has there ever been a full Brookie/Oaks crossover (apart from sets)? A flatmate of mine at the time swore blind that Matt (caretaker and Chloe's boyfriend) was the same character that he played in Brookside, though I felt they were identical characters with different names. Equally, I'm sure before Hollyoaks: In the Shitty was made I read that Philip Olivier would be a new Oaks regular playing Tinhead.

Your flatmate's right, Matt Musgrove was a directly lifted character from Brookside - his brother was a good rapist too!

Fair enough, and now you say the surname that makes sense.
I forgot all about the "Who raped Nikki Shadwick" storyline, was it the inexplicably-Irish-brother or the gay-one-off-Springhill-brother who raped her?
That storyline really as a template for Hollyoaks for many years to come, it must be on Phil Redmond's Top 10.

I'm fairly certain it was the inexplicably Irish one. I used to love the Musgroves. My mum and I used to watch Brookie together and repeat everything the mother said in an equally unconvincing accent. "Sit dain nai!"

Phil's Top 10 rapes or Top 10 storylines? Before Nikki there was Leanne from Corrie's real life husband in Brookie in a rape exploit and years before that poor Ma Corkhill.

Phil's Top 10 rapes or Top 10 storylines? I imagine they are essentially the same thing.
