This should cover all the important questions about the Hollyoaks thread and explain why it seems like we're talking shite in code.
What are all these strange names for the characters?
As most of characters are defined by one unique feature or personality trait, we give them nicknames based on this. As if following the complex plot wasn't complicated enough. The full list is available here: lowculture.proboards34.com/index.cgi?board=soap&action=display&thread=1190496472
What is an OTP?
It means 'one true pairing', a couple which should really be together (although it's not always recognised by the show). OTPs often have a nickname which is a combined version of their name. For example, Jess & Kris become 'Kress' and Jake & Nancy becomes 'Jancy'. Some couple-names become popular in the media as well, such as 'McDean' for Craig & John-Paul.
What is crash!rape?
It's an unexpected rape stuck in the plot for no obvious reason. It originated from a fanfic where Jess was raped in a throwaway sentence. A new variation is cake!rape, the act of forcing desserts upon someone with anorexia.
What's the difference between Good Rape and Bad Rape?
One thing Hollyoaks has taught us is the difference between good and bad rape. If the rapist feels guilty about it (eg, Sam Owen) then it's Good Rape. If the rapist feels gleeful (eg, Andy Holt) then it's Bad Rape and they'll probably end up getting impaled on rebar.
What are/is Lollyoaks?
Lollyoaks are our hilarious rip-offs of the LolCats macro phenomenom, "images combining photographs of a cat with a humorous and idiosyncratic caption." For more on LolCats, see: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lolcats.
What is hannorexia?
Hannorexia is a fictional illness that Hollyoaks uses for Hannah Ashworth which entails all of the key elements of anorexia and bulemia so they can cover their bases and so they don't have to do any actual medical research.
Why do you hate Katy and Sasha so much?
Because they are terrible, terrible actors.
Feel free to post any other questions/answers.
