I've always loved National Lampoon's European Vacation. It is lame but mint at the same time.
I could never tell how old the daughter was meant to be. She could have been about 12 but could also have been about 45. The fact that when she saw a big sausage and told the family that it reminded her of her boyfriend makes me think she's meant to be about 17 or 18.

I couldn't stop laughing at Deuce Bigalow: European Giggolo. It was embarrasing.

This isn't strictly on the theme of the thread, but I've just got an email of a mate who is going mad trying to find out the following -
this is doing my head in. i'm trying to think of the name of a film and i can't get it, I CAN'T GET IT!!
all i remember is that it's set in a fashion magazine somewhere like vogue, but their rival magazine (someone like cosmo) keeps stealing all their ideas. so if vogue say they'll put jennifer lopez on the cover, cosmo does it first. it turns out that the loveable female starlet (i'm thinking kate hudson but it's not her) has been reporting to cosmo with vogue's ideas so she can get the editing job at cosmo.
Any hints appreciated

There's a really lovely sappy film called "The Boy Who Could Fly" which I LOVE to pieces, because it makes me cry every time. It's about a mute boy who lives next door to this new family, and he strikes up a friendship with the daughter. He believes he can fly, and she's the only one who believes him. Naturally at the end he takes her for a whizz round the town and everyone stops and gapes and it's ACE. It used to be on C5 in the middle of the night occasionally, but haven't seen it for a couple of years now.
Also a young Reese Witherspoon in "Man in the Moon" - I 'm going to watch that on DVD in the next few days!

Isn't the boy autistic as well as mute, or did I pick that up wrong?

Hackers.
Beyond dated, it's unrealistic, implausible and features some of the worst acting/dress-sense/plot/dialogue in the history of film. And Matthew Lillard. Yet it's brilliant for all those reasons and the soundtrack, which is superb. Plus Angelina Jolie looks awesome in it.

What is it with The Gays and Scooby Doo!? They insist on showing it in Streetlife (Leicester's biggest only gay club) almost ever week.

I can't remember if he was autistic or not - I don't think I even knew what autism was the last time I watched it, it was so long ago. But, argh! Dear lord, in that picture he looks like Michael Myers from the Halloween films! Not so sure I'd like to have a spin around the clouds with him now, even if he is a sweetie.

Angelina Jolie does look fabulous in it, and the soundtrack is very good.

Thanks for the help with the film conundrum, my friend has stopped going mad. I'm surprised Mannequin hasn't been mentioned yet. McCarthy, Catrall, Hollywood Montrose and One of the Golden Girls - has that line-up ever been bettered?

my ex housemate and I still get together with our hangovers to watch films we're officially too old for; The Princess Diaries, Ella Enchanted, anything set in an American holiday camp with a fat kid and people learning archery. As we're renting them we always go through the facade of talking about a make believe younger sister waiting at home - we live in Glasgow, people get stabbed for less!

The Brady Bunch Movie and A Very Brady Sequel.
There will never come a time when I grow tired of these two films - the girl who played Jan was absolutely terrific.
Adventures in Babysitting - pure class. I used to pretend to be Elisabeth Shue when I was a wee lad, singing in my bedroom to the opening song with yellow trousers on my head, to copy her blonde locks.
Somehow my parents were still surprised when I came out.

Bill and Ted are always welcome on my TV, but I never classed them as bad films.... (I'm trying to educate myself in terms of films but there's not point really, is there?)
Ned Kelly is pretty good to watch and take the mick out of, especially the awful Irish accents and the random sex scenes. People just brush each other in passing or shake hands and then they're having sex. I watched it with my old church youth group (which has fairly strict rules on dating) and after one of the 'Orlando Bloom touches someone's shoulder and then suddenly has sex with her' scenes one of the older lads clapped a younger guy on the shoulder and said 'And that, Johnny, is why you should never touch a woman'.
Also notable because it proves my theory that Orlando Bloom must look like a complete twat at the end of any film he's in. In Ned Kelly I believe he gets shot in the groin.

Girls Just Want to Have Fun starring SJP and Helen Hunt. "I love to dance." Oh this is fantastic! The love-interest boy is rather dodgy though.

I haven't really looked through this thread, so forgive me if this has been mentioned before, but everytime a coversation like this comes up everyone I know mentions SpiceWorld. The thing is, I don't think it's a crap film at all...
Am I wrong, or just a gay?
