I'm getting quite excited about this. I love musicals, I love biopics, I love music biopics (Grace Of My Heart is one of my favourite films, ever) and I'm getting moist about a musical biopic.
And now this has appeared:

It's a shame fucking Beyonce is in it. And Jamie Foxx. Two of the most horrific people of all time. All it needs is Steve Jones to pop up and it'll be the hat trick.

I can cope with Jamie, provided he takes his top off.

Is this the film that's supposed to be loosely based on The Supremes, the band where the lead singer got too big for her boots and basically pushed to other two singers to the sidelines in order to bag all the attention for herself? If so then it's a majestic piece of casting getting Beyone to play the lead.

Anyway, the original soundtrack is fabulous, so I hope the movie is just as good.

I am so excited about this, and the Box had Beyonce's new video for the song 'Listen' and it did sound amazing.

And Jennifer Hudson to keep getting nominated for 'best supporting actress' when she's as much of a part of the film as beyonce is, if not more. She's winning lots of awards though, I bet B isn't too pleased.

However, this is a great year for lead actresses in award ceremonies and if she was being pushed as lead she'd not even get a nomination, let alone an award, so keep her in Supporting and she'll do just nicely, thank you.

We're not getting this. We're getting a load of random crap no one wll go and see, but we're not getting this over here. Just lame. I really want to see it tho, I'll just have to make do with the soundtrack until the video release. I am loving "Listen", I think it's absolutely gorgeous. I was a huge fan of Beyonce then went off her for a bit, now I'm getting more into her. Oo er.

I miss Mahogany. I was sure they would finally put it on DVD in a beautiful deluxe edition once this film hit theatres. They did finally put a deluxe DVD of Sparkle out, though. That's something, but it is not Mahogany.

So on a scale of one to ten, how pissed off do you think Beyonce is not to have got an Oscar nomination?

After the Golden Globes, Daddy Knowles suggested that racism was still at work in Hollywood, despite 3 of the 6 film acting awards going to Black American actors (2 to the British and 1 to Meryl Streep) and Dreamgirls winning best comedy/musical film.
Dreamgirls has 3 Oscar nominations for Best Song so she'll be singing on the night. It'll be like the awards a year or two ago where she sang every fucking song. I hope Prince wins for Happy Feet again, just to piss her off.
Mary Wilson did an interview recently and she was asked what Miss Ross would think about the film and she replied along the lines of "She'll hate it, because it's not all about her". Nice to know bitterness can span decades.

Has Beyonce confirmed she'll sing yet? Or will we get a Barbra's Mirror Has Two Faces And You Can See Her Ugly Mug In Both Of Them hissy-fit situation, where she'll refuse to perform because her "talents" were not recognised elsewhere? I'm sure she'll attend, if only so Mummy Knowles can show off her latest fashion "choice".
I'd love it to be like CZJ and Queen Latifah performing I Move On a few years ago, where Renee Zellwegger sat in the audience and tried to look dignified while the Queen totally showed her up.

It's fantastic!
Was watching it thinking, 'why all the fuss about Jennifer Hudson. The fat girl playing Effie is amazing!' without realising Hudson had Zellwegered up to play the part. I don't remember her being as big on Idol. She really is stunning, (despite her constantly being quoted as saying, 'gay is a sin!'), and her rendition of 'And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going' is a show stopper.
Great style throughout the film too. It's made me want to have my photo taken in full Diana Ross make up and paste it up as wallpaper.

One Night Only is one of my favourite songs ever. Bizarrely, I have a recording of Elaine Paige singing it.

One Night Only is one of my favourite songs ever. Bizarrely, I have a recording of Elaine Paige singing it. I have the same version! On her 'Stages' LP. It's the first version I ever heard so every other version sounds strange by comparison. The same goes for 'Losing My Mind' so when Liza and the Pet Shop Boys did the definitive version I was like WTF!

The weird thing is, I really hate Elaine Paige! So do I! But then I often find myself listening to her Sunday radio show. When touring with the 'King & I' she was allegedly vile to the cast and even worse to the children.

As now she is so well known for musicals it's weird me seeing all these songs she has recorded like the one she did with Barbra.
