It was a few years ago now that I first thought it would be fantastic for Tim Burton to do a film of a Sondheim musical. I imagined that Into The Woods would be more his style, but I am very excited about Sweeney Todd. Some of the casting is intriguing, to say the least, but I really hope they pull it off. I will be massively disappointed if it's not up to scratch.

I literally can't watch that preview without being like
'omg Johnny Depp's nemesis is Snape! and now he's screwing Bellatrix and look! Peter Pettigrew is wandering around'
Yes. The Harry Potter films are that real to me.

That really is exciting. I like the look of the very colourful seaside scene for 'By The Sea', to contrast with everything else.
My hopes are so high for this film. Not too high, I hope.

Apparently they're having to re-do that poster, because somebody's realised that Big Ben didn't exist in Sweeney's time.
It's just been announced that we're showing the film where I work. Free tickets!

Ooh I'm quite excited about this. Although I hope it isn't just "Jack Sparrow featuring half the cast of Harry Potter."

I suspect this film will be wank fodder for many an emo out there.
That said, it looks great.

After reading the preview in the Observer, I am now beyond excitement. The certainly do a good job of making it sound phenomenal.

I can't wait for this either - I've wanted to see a version of Sweeney Todd since I saw clips of the Angela Lansbury production on a documentary about the history of musicals, and the film looks ever better than a stage show featuring a cannibalistic Jessica Fletcher. I have noticed though that the trailers seem to gloss over the fact that it's a musical. Serial killing and meat pies made of humans are one thing, but Warners is clearly worried that singing might put people off.

Has it been rated 18? Surely it's the only musical ever to get this rating?
I actually can't believe how excited I am. Not really a Burton or Depp fan, but it just looks ace

Has it been rated 18? Surely it's the only musical ever to get this rating? It's because of all the BLOOD! Much better than "contains scenes of mild peril" I'm sure.

Gah, half my friends are wanting to see this but none of us can be arsed pretending to be eighteen.
And it'll probably have stopped showing in most cinemas by the time I turn eighteen in a couple of months. Oh well.

I never used to have any problems when I were a lass. But then I did live in Grimsby.
Johnny Depp and Tim Burton talking about this on The Culture show tonight, folks.

Saw it yesterday, if you've got a strong stomach I can't recommend it highly enough. The performances are excellent, it looks great up on screen and there is almost as much singing as there is blood. While the humour is black as soot (Victorian references ahoy!) it was more humourous in parts than I expected. Ooh I'm quite excited about this. Although I hope it isn't just "Jack Sparrow featuring half the cast of Harry Potter." On that note: Giles from Buffy is in it briefly too!

I'm going to see it tonight as the Vue in the shopping centre I work in let us see free previews at the oh-so-convenient time of 10pm on a Wednesday. But woohoo. If it's an 18, I got ID'd for an 18s-over gig last night but I just annoyed them til they let me in, but I've been to their free previews for Saw 4 there and surely that was an 18? It was mankin either way.

I really enjoyed it, but I think I was the only one that did. I went with the people I work with. I work in a shop that sells Gio Goi. I think if I'd went with my boyfriend or friends from school, they would have enjoyed it.
Alan Rickman is too sexy, and I loved Johnny Depp's wee white hair-stripe. There did seem to basically only be one tune though.

I remember going to see them when I was 14 (and looked about ten) and no-one batted an eyelid. This looks brilliant - I'm trying to drag someone to see it with me this weekend.

I thought it was OK, and I liked Sacha, Helena, Johnny, Alan and the young sailor guy, but I got bored at points when it got quite repetitive. And the daughter annoyed me.
Where have I seen Toby before? He seemed familiar.

What a smashing film. Everything worked so well, no characters annoyed me, there were plenty of laughs thrills and shocks, and I didn't even get bored. We should not have sat at the back though, since I kept thinking someone was going to creep up behind me and slit my throat.
Wasn't Helenha Bonham Carter amazing in this? It's quite ridiculous how Depp (when I don't think he was as great as usual) was given the Oscar nomination whilst she is left out in the cold. She did get the best death though, and really cool clothes.
Do villains have no imagination these days? Lord Voldemort needs a henchman - he calls Timothy Spall. Queen Narissa needs a henchman - she calls Timothy Spall. Alan Rickman needs a henchman - he calls Timothy Spall. Please try harder, evil people. The police should totally be monitoring Spall's received calls.
The boy playing Anthony... it's like Tim Burton spliced together Scarlett Johansson and Keira Knightley to play him. It was quite mesmorising.
