I am far, far too exited about this.
I heard 'What Time Is Is' rather inexplicably on Radio 1 for the first time last weekend and I've been in a frenzy ever since.
The first film is thie most hillariously rubbish thing I've ever seen and the two male leads are possibly the campest people ever.

I had hoped High School Musical 2 would be a critique of American culture, and see Sharpay and Her Gay Brother With All The Hats becoming disillusioned and brainwashed by the violence uncensored in films and video games, then hatching a terrible plan to shoot their class mates, only for the power of song and dance to save them as the last minute. But it will be about what everyone does in their Summer holidays. Oh well, this looks amazing: uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0pswJvxgO0Of note: - Troy seems to be wearing more make up than the average laboratory guinea pig. - Gay Brother has a parasol! - 1:35 to 1:42 is fantastic.

That has to be pitched to Disney IMMEDIATELY for High School Musical 3.

It sounds far too much like 'It's Chico Time', and you really did expect to sound like it. Of course this is a bad thing.

I'm still wondering why no one found it odd in the first one that Sharpay and Her Gay Brother wanted to play romantic leads opposite each other. I wouldn't have thought Disney was that keen on incest, as a general rule.

Everyone I watched it with found it odd, though most of us agreed that they were much better than Troy and Gabrielle.
IMDB says this:

It says on youtube that Troy gets duped into kissing Sharpay in front of Gabriella!

Apparantely the third High School Musical is actually going to be out in cinemas. But producers have denied that it will be in any way haunted.
(I've not actually watched the first one. Though I might do it right now, simply for the lowculture factor.)

Though I might do it right now, simply for the lowculture factor.) In case you didn't, you really need to watch it. It will make your life a much better place. There will be about ten minutes where you think "What is this SHIT? I'm switching off!". But don't as you'll then start to find it strangely bearable, and by the time it ends you'll be brainwashed into singing and dancing. My friend works at Claires and she says that they sell Lockets with Troy in them, which are particularly popular with the teen shoplifters.

My lord. This is the campest thing i've ever seen.
"Stick to the Status Quo" is really quite ace. I'm not sure if i'm a fan of any of the other tracks. I like "What Time is It?" though.

The Americans get this on Friday, but apparently we have to wait until September the 21st. What utter gash. I'll be at Disney Channel-less uni then, too. Another TERRIBLE thing is this second sentence: Apparantely the third High School Musical is actually going to be out in cinemas. But producers have denied that it will be in any way haunted. Although it does make you appreciate your life when this is the worst thing to happen to you all day.

Relax Dunkley, what do you think the rest of the internet is for! I promise to find you a streaming link/torrent as quickly as possible and that's a promise.

I can never understand any of that techwizzery. Plus I always think the FBI are outside in a van, ready to pounce the moment I do. But High School Musical 2 is worth that risk.
Besides they'll probably be more interested in Osama Bin Laden, when he tries to download High School Musical 2.

I now own the soundtrack to this. I wasn't sad enough to buy it like I did with the last one, but i got a copy burned from a mate's sister (who at 23 is also very much in the target area).
Sharpay has a song called Fabulous, in which she asks for her Jimmy Choo flip flops. Chad and Ryan have a duet but it is not about bumming. ACTUALLY it may be a metaphor, because I think Chad is singing "I don't dance" and Ryan is saying things like "You'll never know if you don't give it a try" and tries to persuade him. In fact it is definitely about bumming because as we saw in the first one Chad, like everyone else, is always dancing.
EDIT: There is an awful lot of SHIT on this album. Serves me right for not waiting to see them sing it first though.

Yeah, I tried listening to the soundtrack album of the first one before I'd seen it, and it really doesn't work that way.
One of my American friends has assured me that this one outgays the first before it's even two-thirds of the way through. She cited the Chad/Ryan duet as the main example.

You just know the producers will have the Gay Brother and The Blonde One cop off with each other and deny all involvment.
I often wonder why he wears hats, one popular example would be The Blonde One making him suffer Japanese torture and cums on his head. Thus he wears the hat.
I feel slightly violated and disturbed.

I thought he had a crush on Zeke, the baking kid. Because Zeke fancies Sharpay, and she's not interested when he turns up with creme brulee or whatever, and then right after Sharpay spurns him Ryan bounces up all "oh hai! Will I do?"
Either that, or the creepy incest vibes are actually real.

Because Zeke fancies Sharpay, and she's not interested when he turns up with creme brulee or whatever, and then right after Sharpay spurns him Ryan bounces up all "oh hai! Will I do? Well, it seems that Wikipedia took one look at High School Musical 2 and decided that Ryan may have a crush on Troy instead. Though like the Gabriella thing, there's probably no evidence of it in the movie whatsoever. Perhaps wikipedia just decided that he is obviously either gay or involved in a creepy incestuous relationship with his sister and chose the one that isn't creepy. But i'll tell you if it does (in spoiler tags or whatever) when I finish watching it, which i'll be doing after i've got myself some sleep.

I have seen neither High School Musical or its sequel, as I thought it would be too Lowculture, even for me.
I am however now intrigued. Is it best to watch drunk?
And the bumming song transcends meta - it's reminiscent of the volleyball scene in Top Gun.

Yup. That's where I stopped. I tried to like it and god knows I like camp shit but I just couldn't bring myself to watch. I feel horribly left out.
The bumsex song is amazing though. Gay Brother With All The Hats is a pitcher and a receiver. Who'd have thunk it?

The 'bumming metaphor' song is even gayer than 'Get your head in the game'. And I thought that was pretty suggestive what with all the dancing basketball players and their rhythmic singing.
