***THE TRAILER IS HERE***Two time Academy Award winner MERYL STREEP, singing, in dungarees! Two time Academy Award nominee JULIE WALTERS, singing, in a feather boa! Emmy award winning CHRISTINE FUCKING BARANSKI, singing, in what doesn't appear to be either dungarees or a feather boa, but still singing nonetheless. There's also Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Stellan SkarsgÄrd, but another man in the cast will probably be of more interest to lowculture people. Not Dominic Cooper, the cock magnet in The History Boys and soon to be Willoughby in Sense And Sensibility, but Chris Jarvis. Yes! Chris Jarvis (don't you dare ask who) from The Bill who used to take his shirt off a lot and is a bit of a buff hottie. (Click on th picture in the spoiler if you're still not sure)

Summer 2008? SUMMER 2008?!?!
But I WANT IT NOW!
Although, much as I love Meryl, not entirely convinced by singing Meryl.

Hmmm, I'm not too excited by that trailer. It all looks a bit flat. However I hold out hope because Julie Walters and Christine Baranski are both ace. The latter had me laughing for roughly three and a half years with her delivery of the line 'I must get my umbrella' in Bowfinger where she plays an aging actress type.
ALSO - Dominic Cooper you say? With his top off? Oh go on then.

I'm more excited about Colin Firth, to be totally frank. I have developed a bit of a thing for him in recent times! Mamma Mia is something I wouldn't pay to see at the theatre, but I would like to see as a film, so this looks rather interesting. Especially if they get the blokes dancing and singing, which could be amusing.

I can't believe no-one has yet mentioned the fact that Amanda 'My breasts can tell when it's raining!' Seyfried is in this! Though I'm guessing everyone forgets about her cos she's such a slut...
On that basis alone, count me in.

I'm hoping Julie will be better in this than in 'Stepping Out'!

I'm seeing that. I doubt my Abba-loving boyfriend will protest. I saw the stage versions years ago, and I remember liking the fat dad* with glasses...Harry?
[ETA] *just realised that could be counted as a spoiler, but by "dad" I mean "dad possibilities"...I have no idea who the real father is. I've forgotten most of it.

Boo, you whore. I'm totally going to see this for Amanda Seyfried more than anything else - I listened to her and Dominic Cooper singing 'Lay All Your Love On Me' on YouTube earlier and it was hilarious/awesome. There's going to be a behind-the-scenes special on ITV1 next Thursday as well. Huzzah, indeed.

Quite a lot of the songs are starting to leak now. I'm still mixed on the songs. The production on a few of them sounds very unofficial karaoke CD. However I saw the trailer in the cinema today. I just wanted to start singing.
EDIT: There is an encore after the credits so make sure you stay till the end.

This excites me greatly, particularly Christine Baranski referencing the song that came 2nd in Eurovision this year - (Abba, Eurovision, you see) - by saying 'you Shady lady'. All that they need to make it perfect is for Ani Lorak to pop up.

Is the Ani Lorak reference intentional?

No, most likely not. Still, it amused me.

I don't care how gay it makes me; Amanda Seyfried singing 'Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)' gives me a happy:

Is a reference to the 2005 classic "Chacun Pense En Soi" too much to ask for a film that has its roots in Eurovision.

Without anyone spoilering it, is there a satisfactory ending to the "who's the daddy?" storyline? I've not seen it on stage, and I'm hoping for a Lace-like "Which of you bitches is my mother" confrontation.

How is it possible that I watched the trailers, got excited for Marianne Thorpe Christine Baranski, but didn't realise that it was an ABBA thing?

I got invited to an advance screening last night.
I wasn't that fussed on the stage version, but this made me laugh like a drain. It is the gayest thing ever. In a wonderful way.

Do Pierce Brosnan or Colin Firth sing? Or Julie Walters for that matter?

Julie sings, and she's great. There's a bit of Mrs Overall in her dancing, but the woman can do no wrong.
Colin sings, and gets away with it.
Poor Pierce. You can see the look of fear in his eyes whenever the songs start. He *almost* gets away with it, though.

Oh Goody. All we need now for Julie is Victoria Wood to come along with her piano and sing one of those bitterly comic songs she always closes her show(s) with.

Oh Pierce...I've seen Grey Owl. This is nothing... (I think it's the description of himself as an "ex-MI6 thespian" that makes it funny)

Brilliant. 30 muscular chaps in tiny Speedos and huge Technicolor flippers bop away to Dancing Queen on a rickety Greek pier
