I don't think Stephen Fry was sacked; quite the opposite in fact. I believe he has an open invitation to present it any time he wants. But in further proof of his amazingness, he just got bored and decided he couldn't be bothered doing it again.
Can I find a side winding thermal body belt? Can I buffalo...
I was sure they got rid of him. Or at least they were going to get rid of him and he jumped before he was pushed. There was some furore over low ratings for the show, and they concluded it was becuase Stephen Fry wasn't sufficiently down wiv teh kidz. So they brought in Jonathan Ross on the basis that seeing as he presents every other award ceremony, he might as well do the BAFTAs too.
What was the name of the guy who had the Channel 5 chat show who presented it one year. That was the most painful experience ever - his "joke" about The Sixth Sense was greeted with the longest silence ever.
Very pleased with tonight's results - I'm so thrilled for Marion Cotillard, although wanted James McAvoy to win Best Actor as having watched Atonement again this weekend, the two performances he gives are just perfect. I actually cried out "Yesssssssssss!" when Atonement won best film.
The highlight for me though was Eva Green walking out on stage to Call The Shots. 6 seconds of perfect bliss.
I thought Stephen Fry mentioned this on his "coping with manic depression" programme, because it was all far too stressful, and he would get far too depressed when he had to host the BAFTAs. I might have got that completely wrong, but it may also be correct.
"Sperm is like lending someone less than a fiver - you can't really ask for it back..."
It was dull as ceremonies go. JR does not have the gravitas necessary to host an event like this.
I like the way the awards went: oh Keira, even Britain hates you. What the hell was Daniel Day-Lewis on about? I can't even begin to imagine what Sienna was doing there in the first place. When I first saw her appear in the auditorium I thought she was an usherette who'd had a funny turn and needed a sit-down.
