I loved the Grants. Damon was my heart throb pin up boy, and you don't get much better that Sue Johnston and Ricky Tomlinson. There was also Barry (whooo, bad) and the sister with the kind of squished face, and I can't remember her name at all, but admired her style!
I also wanted to grow up to be like Heather, but not marry a wanker, I thought she was very beautiful. Harry Cross and Ralph were vaguely amusing (bit like Lou and Harold in neighbours). Shiela's rape was extraordinarily shocking. Casa Bevron was brilliant, I stared off hating Bev but grew to love her.
I think the incest couple may have been the end of it for me too actually. They bored me and were too posh (not in a good way like the Collin's or Max and Patricia, or Heather.)
Oh and it was tiresome when that family moved in and the dad was a trade union guy and they were like rip off Grants.
Anna Friel was ace, and her mum and Sinbad! oh I really wanted them to live happily ever after!
The memories!

And let us not forget the frankly fucking fabulous Margi Clarke who played Doreen. An icon.

Sinbad moves into Charlie Stubbs' house in a few weeks.

Really?! Aww, I used to love Sinbad. I felt so sorry for him when Mandy left.

I don't want him in Coronation Street. Every time I see him I think of the incredibly depressing storylines he had the during his last couple of years in Brookside (post-Mandy).
And then I think of The Royal.

Shiela's rape was extraordinarily shocking. Ahh, nostalgia. Remember the days of telly when someone on a soap being sexually assaulted was a rare event?

By the end Brookside did start to get like Hollyoaks where everyone living on the Close had been sexually assaulted at some point. And just like Hollyoaks none of the victims ever talked to each other about it or offered each other support. If they'd have done that Nikki Shadwick may not have been so traumatised as to feel the need to fall in love with Jimmy Corkhill!

Surely the best thing in the last few years of Brookie were the spin off websites?
The time around 2001/02when Bev had run off (for some reason I can't remember but it was because she was giving birth in real life) and you could log onto the Bev's Bar website and read her e-mails to Leanne were brilliant.

And let us not forget the frankly fucking fabulous Margi Clarke who played Doreen. An icon. Doreen was played by Kate Fitzgerald. I don't think Margi Clarke actually ever appeared in Brookie.

Jimmy Corkhill's website was absolutely amazing! Tinhead was definitely one of my favourites, but only when he was naughty and used to lead Leo Johnson astray. I fancied the bejesus out of him. Also, I have just had the most AMAZING thought....Leo Johnson in Twin Peaks...Leo Johnson in Brookie. Wowzersticks.

Roflcopters, I'm watching the last episode on Teleport (or Virgin, whatever).
They also have the first episode and a couple of others.
