I only have vague memories of this but I remember being quite fascinated by it at the time. Was there something about someone learning how to bake a cake from the evil mother. I have the memory of a goldfish, but wasn't there an evil Victoria sponge? Just watched the youtube clip and I had completely forgotten that Christine Tremarco was in this. She is so awesome. And is the camp younger brother (John-Paul?) played by Craig from BB6? If there was dvd's of this I would totally buy them.

Oh yes, that's quite funny - that's the first time Eva infiltrates the house as Sue is cooking. 'You've got food all down you'; 'Yeah,' says Sue, 'Victoria Sponge!' she chirpily adds. 'Eva Morrigan' replies Eva, extending her hand. 'Oh no... sorry, my name isn't... I'm Sue' and Eva practically rolls her eyes in despair that her long-lost child doesn't even appreciate her humour.
So many quotable lines throughout. Only problem is, only three other people in the country would realise that you were quoting anyone.
DVD needed. NOW!

Bungle, there is an extremely comprehensive Wikipedia entry on Springhill. Please tell me you wrote it all.
And it was Revelations I think (Granada caterers saving money reusing sets).

Blimey, no, but it must be fairly recent - it didn't even have an entry six months ago. It's not great though, is it? Lots of plot, which is handy, and a nice list of characters - but there are a few assumptions, some errors and misunderstandings, not many facts and some bizarre info ('Paul Culshaw (John Paul) appeared dramatically changed in series 2, as the actor had reached puberty.')
Should you wish to know more about the show then... well, watch this space! For about a year. So you'd better put the kettle on. But it'll be worth the wait. Maybe.
If you haven't seen the series don't read the Wikipedia page! Honestly, just hold out for a possible eventual DVD release.
Still, I wonder if the Wikipedia writer has the three episodes I'm missing...

I was ten when it aired so I was probably wasn't going to be up at 4am . I am pretty sure that the first few episodes were aired at around 6pm? I was only ten at the time as well. The only thing I really remember is some sort of gag about salt, but I know I definitely liked it. I just didn't have an effing clue what was actally happening.

I had a sudden urge to watch Springhill yesterday, for reasons I can't explain. (Voodoo, maybe?) You'd think they could at least put it on 4oD even if they weren't willing to shell out for a DVD release.

Well, we're reaching the series one finale tonight - very exciting times. My friend is now a complete convert, and he's sniffy about any telly more than three months old and with a budget of less than a million quid an hour. He's going to be rather miffed when you-know-who drives off with you-know-who, with no sign of you-know-who.

I remember Springhill. I actually found 3 video tapes full of episodes that i recorded from the repeats on Sky One in the early hours. When i get around to watching them again if the show's as good as i remember i'll copy them to DVD. As it probably won't get an official DVD release.
