I am extremely jealous, I wish I'd had the foresight to do the same.

Believe me it took a lot of effort - up at 5am some mornings to record the early show if I was going out when it was on a t 7pm. Having heart palpatations at every ad break in case I ever forgot to press record again and miss one millisecond of the show!
Thankfully - I managed to get every episode intact - one of them has someone doing deaf signing in the corner, but apart from that they all turned out fine. I'd love to transfer them to DVD but it would probably take forever! Maybe one day when I get a DVD recorder...

That is a huge labour of love. And completely worth it.

I haven't watched any episodes in a good few years though.
My favourite scene ever was when Isabelle Leduc was in the shop and screamed "THERE IS NO YOUGURT!" - strange I know but my bf and I still laugh about it to this day!
It's interesting to see how the show improved over time, though I wonder if it hadn't been axed back in '93 if it still would be now...

Yes, the lovely Framboise Gommendy. "So sad", I remember the Daily Star saying when she found out Yentob had cancelled it. I do doubt it would have lasted - might have worked as a six-month series each summer, maybe, although there would have been the obvious cawing about licence-payers' money being wasted, etc, etc.

Any sign of Kathy Pitkin? She changed her name to Cathy with a C and modelled for a while. Eldorado was great fun, albeit a misguided attempt at cashing in on Euromania related to (as someone said earlier) the Olympics and the Maasricht treaty. The second Trine (or as her parents called her Tree-neurgh) was great: I once saw her in The Bucks Head in Camden and had to be physically restrained from bombarding her with Eldorado quotes. I bought the video retrospective, Adios Eldorado, the day it came out. I was 10p short and 'borrowed' it from an innocent shopper claiming it was for my bus home. *shame*

There are about 5 behind the scenes photos of Eldorado on the Doctor Who DVD "The Time Meddler" as part of a photographic tribute to Verity Lambert.

Framboise Gommendy update: a quick google turns up her website www.framboisegommendy.co.uk/emain.htm which seems mostly to comprise reasons why you shouldn't employ her. She even lists her 'major faults'. Bless. Bizarrely, she omits from this list the fact that her name means 'raspberry'. Talk about a losing wicket.
