I don't actually know who Heather Locklear is I was going to say 'shame on you' then realised I didn't know who John Paul was and wondered why I had been tagged as a Pope until I looked it up. I live in hope of being Noele Gordon but am very happy with my Julie Andrews extra tag.

Hello, I am new.
My name is Ruth (and my username is unoriginal), I am 25 and I live in a crap town and watch lots of TV to pass the time.
Mainly I watch Hollyoaks, EastEnders, 24, Friends, and when they're on things like Six Feet Under, Shameless, Sugar Rush. Yesterday I saw this fantastic programme about dumping your friends, where this posh kid decided there was more to life than shopping and started hanging out with emos. Oh, the contempt they had for her. God bless Channel 4.

Who/what is Slabface?
I'm guessing it's a Hollyoaks reference. If so is it good or bad?

Hello!
Another refugee from Popjustice and the early days of Lowculture. I used to be known as Finrevolution on both boards, but life got in the way of me writing sardonic blog posts about The Bill. Now I am using my real name and much of my job consists of watching TV with juvenile delinquents. I live in Newcastle with another PJ refugee, and we have a bunny and watch Casualty.
That's me, pretty much, so...yeah. Hi.

I don't actually know who Heather Locklear is She was Michael J Fox's foil and verbal sparring partner (read: ratings puller) on Spin City and designer-cum-bitch on Melrose Place. (In retrospect, designer-cum-bitch sounds dirtier than it is. Insert Matthew Williamson joke here.)

I've just found this site, and I've decided that I love you all. Can I be your token American?
I live in The OC, Orange County, CA, which is exactly like the tv show. Not really.
I spend my free time mainlining Doctor Who and Life on Mars, as well as random other British shows that I nick from the internets. I've grown tired of watching Alistair Appleton pry antiques out of the withered hands of old ladies on BBC America, so I've taken to a life of crime to get my British tv fix.
I have a big girl crush on David Tennet. TV hasn't been the same since Arrested Development was cancelled.
That's all. Hello!

Welcome fellicity! Although I *think* there is already the odd American around these parts.

But most importantly, she was the American version of DC Viv Martella, aka Stacey Sheridan in TJ Hooker, and most importantly, she was Samantha Josephine Carrington. What she could do with a bannister was pure art.

As no-one actually calls me minicasino anymore - which to be fair is probably a good thing -I've reverted everything back to my actual name. I hope that's ok, I know it's against the rules, but it's been getting on my nerves of late! x

I don't think it is against the rules to change one's name. A quick hover over a lot of prominent people will reveal they didn't stick to their registered name.

The rules ask people not to do it - I don't think it's a problem if people only do it once or twice though.

Don't thank me - that's just my interpretation seeing as some people have changed their names occasionally.
Paul LC may smite you yet!

OK I've been around for a while. Hello to you all.
I have a question for you all though. Say if one was to join the lowculture myspace group and tried to post to a thread, is the message "Account for 7 days" a common one?
Would one have to wait for 7 days after registering with myspace before one could post?

Hello, I'm not exactly new but I am shy, so haven't got round to this thread until now.
My name's Lise and I'm a languages student at Glasgow Uni and so, join the large Weegie Lowculture contingent. Well, actually, I live in Paisley, but for obvious reasons I tend to keep that quiet. Since all I do there is eat and sleep occasionally, and was born in the Southern General...hey! I'm a Glaswegian!
I spend obscene amounts of time and money in record shops and watch too many old episodes of Ricki Lake, Sally Jessy Raphael and Jeremy Kyle. I love early-90s kids TV (why do they never repeat Playbus??), Captain Scarlet, Wife Swap, Supernanny, How Clean Is You House? and the crappier American versions of them, even though I know I shouldn't. I watch too much French breakfast television. Anything with Stephen Fry or Dara O Briain is essential viewing.
I hate Gillian McKeith and the Daily Mail, but love The Guardian on Mondays (Charlie Brooker and the MediaGuardian for 25p!) If I remember, I buy Private Eye, but only really for the TV, Street Of Shame and Letters bits. The legal stuff is a bit clever to be reading on the train.
and that's pretty much me.

Hi Lise
Ricki Lake on ITV2 is the best, especially with the constant *ding-dong* of the door

Hi Lise Ricki Lake on ITV2 is the best, especially with the constant *ding-dong* of the door It is, that and the fact it doesn't take itself too seriously. It's the fun between the heavy-handed twattishness of Jeremy Kyle and the guilt-inducing moralising on Sally. Go Ricki!
