Who here is going? I am, with three mates. We were all trying to get tickets, and then suddenly I got through just after ten, as we were all about to give up. Very excited!

Grrr. I was going to try and get tickets - until I got up early, went to put the rubbish out and locked myself out, with nothing by my oyster card and an old parka for company. I had to seek refuge at my parent's house - by which time it was about ten to nine, the website was refusing to open and the phone line was busy. So I had a cheese and marmite sandwich instead.
This is the second time I've tried and failed to get tickets. I don't really 'get' how you can get them if you can't get through on the phone and if the website doesn't work. A lot of it is probably down to my own stupidity, but still...
I am, however, going to see the White Stripes and Queens of the Stone Age at Wireless in Hyde Park.

I would love to go! If I could take my house with me and if no other people were going to be there, particularly women with henna tattoos and men who think that juggling/walking on stilts is acceptable behaviour.

Grrr. I was going to try and get tickets - until I got up early, went to put the rubbish out and locked myself out, with nothing by my oyster card and an old parka for company. Wow, I only thought people ever did that in TV shows! I talked about going to Glastonbury, but only when I thought Kylie was going to be there, and before finding out that I was going to be in Norway when it's taking place. So we're going to V instead. I'm with Audrey on the camping/festival behaviour hate, so I'm hoping V really is as middle class as it looks on t'telly. I want to be offered cucumber sandwiches, not drugs.

I don't think V is any exception to the normal festival antics from what i've heard from people who've gone.
I'm not going to any festivals. I do wish i'd decided to do Glastonbury as the lineup is fucking class. Unfortunately, they release the lineup after all the tickets are sold out, just to piss me off.
I wish I could've done T in the Park actually. It's closer and the lineup is also one of the best in years.

I'm going to Glastonbury and have to say now I know the line up I really cannot wait. My photo that is on the ticket is really shameful though but its the only one they accepted.
Most of my mates though are only going to V though so I may have to Ebay a ticket, which is bad cause I hate people ebaying tickets, but thats life.
I hope theres no mud-slide else I will cry and have to go home.

I don't think V is any exception to the normal festival antics from what i've heard from people who've gone. My sister lost a stone when she went to V - purely through heat, dancing about and being too lazy to get in the queues for the food stalls. She loved it and while it isn't meant to be as good as Glastonbury it's got an alright reputation - much better than Reading anyway.

I am going to Reading.
I haven't been since 2003 because the so-called "Rock" festival has turned into another MOR Indie/Pop festival. However, I am promised that the lock-up stage will still appeal to my punk/rock/emo sensibilities!
Download is the only large-scale rock festival left... but just a tad too metal for me.
At least Reading wouldn't dare to put Daniel Powter/James Morrison/Corrine Bailey Rae etc etc.

I'm going to T in the Park.
Glastonbury is full of smelly hippies, and therefore is not my cup of tea. My boyfriend's going though - he doesn't have to pay for tickets or owt though as he's goin through the Workers Beer Company - basically he sells beer like four hours a day and then gets free camping and tickets to the rest of the time. Lucky bass.

I'm praying for sun at this year's Glasto, last time in the rain became unbearable despite the endless beer.
Does anyone fancy meeting up at the Shirley Bassey stage?

I was really tempted by the polish festival open'er as it seems utterly ace with huge name acts at it(bjork etc) for only £35 for the weekend with camping ticket. The downside was that the flights are being hiked up for that weekend so £150 was the cheapest to that airport in poland for that week. Which is annoying but if the flight were cheaper I would go.

I would have really loved to have gone to "Glasto" if they could arrange some sort of special, exclusive toilet for me. That is the one thing which has put me off every year.

So who went then? Was it much cop?
I was only in the country for last night's highlights show, and it looked ace, even though I don't care much for The Who. I'm off to Youtube the other acts.

As usual when you get home you remember it through rose tinted glasses that it was all awesomeness and magical and the best time of your life. Which some of it is. But you tend to forget the miserableness of relentless rain and being wet and the sheer horror of the toilets.
All in all though it was bloody brilliant - helps if you get nicely drunk all day every day. Rufus, Arcade Fire and then Bjork was nearing the best 6 hours of my life. But I'm very glad to be clean, warm and dry again.

Oh, it was wonderful. I'm rather unwell now but it was to be expected - the rain on the final night was bitingly cold and wearing the same soaked clothes for twelve hours on the trot (I'd run out) was not my most sensible plan.
The mud got a bit traumatic but I really had an amazing time, although I think by Sunday night I was ready to leave due to the lack of any more clothes, my feet caning and. I saw about 25 bands play, the majority of whom were amazing.
I fell over a few times, got over the smell of the toilets and used both portaloos and long drops (which I actually prefer), lost some weight (not heaps, but then my diet did pretty much solely consist of jacket potatoes, burritos, a few sweeties and chips - plus one banana)
I didn't drink anything bar a tiny bit of what we had brought with us as I only had £75 to last me so just about scraped through drinking plenty of water (my spots all went, I'd definitely recommend Glasto fresh air for fixing your face). All in all it's made me re-evaluate my attitude towards exercise and food, and before we left we had all decided we wanted to go again next year!

Just dug up this old thread, couldn't find a recent one.
I LOVED Amy Winehouse's set, saw some of Vampire Weekend and I am looking forward to Jay-Z

The view from a telly viewer:
Jay-Z was awesome. And I still don't get Winehouse as a live artist - how can so much praise be given to what is mostly unintelliglbe gibberish punctuated by the occasional 'Blakey'.

Winehouse was hilarious "To whoever's booing, I'm gonna [queue 'oh here we go' from the crowd] ... take your phone off you. and phone your mum. and tell her to teach you some manners. it don't cost nuffink"
She was brilliant, got a fantastic photo when she was right in front of me during Rehab. Jay Z was brilliant as well, really felt like you were part of something massive. Wonderwall was a touch of genius.
Mark Ronson today!!

Winehouse is looking increasingly like a crazy bag lady. But she was still fabulous; teetering on the edge of insanity but somehow managing to stay upright. Her band was superb as well - they held it together when everything else was falling apart.
Jay-Z did nothing for me at all. But then I've never been able to get very excited at people talking over other people's songs, so I'm probably not much of a fair judge.

I like how they thought putting some fake tan on the Winehouse would make her look less dead. I liked her bit about watching too much Cosby's, and I especially enjoyed her punching one of the people in the crowd.

I've been flickering through the highlights and watched most of the Pigeon Detectives for masochistic purposes. The lead singer and his t-shirt grabbing and camera twatting avec water bottle has put me off skinny indie boys for life - possibly turning me lesbian even. Honestly, their music would be personified by the most horrible ex-boyfriend ever.

Putting the red button on and seeing a matrix of Pigeon Detectives, Scouting For Girls, Crystal Castles and The Verve persuaded me that I was wrong and I would not quite like to have been at Glastonbury after all. Not even for the Winehouse.
I could see much more clearly what the heck was going on in Mark Ronson's trousers on my tv anyway. And could mute him.
