Oh dear. I feel a bit sad after the 'Unpopular Opinions...' thread descended into everyone being a bit mean and not liking each other any more : ( I like this board because, aside from being able to moan about Hollyoaks, it's (generally) good fun and everyone seems to be lovely. Does anyone want to join me in posting about bizarre things that make them happy? Just to make us smile and feel all lovely towards each other again?
I'll start.
I like duvets. Ideally in the context of bed but on sofas or even on the floor will do. They are brilliant - a bit like a solo hug. I also like socks - especially today as I have bad feet and my socks soothe me. I like stupid looking animals such as hippos, giraffes and labradors - they just make me laugh. I like lying about in the sun like a big whale and intend to that at lunch time.

That's a lovely idea the lovely Kate!
I also like duvets - my boyfriend calls me Duvet Girl as that would be my superhero alias! I also like my tele watching blanket.
I like it when people do something to restore my faith in people: when other drivers thank me for letting them pull out; when strangers smile for no reason.
I like spending my weekends windsurfing and being by the seaside. I also like sitting on the beach wall eating chips. I like flowers and butterflys.
I like watching tv in the bath (the steam makes it not particularly sensible, but every now and again I like to live on the edge!)
when rubbish things happen, or even when they don't, I like to always think of things that could have gone wrong but didn't. I have a fragile belief that ultimately the world is a good place and everything will work out for the best

Hurrah to thelovelykate for living up to her name!
I like it when my iPod manages to spookily pick exactly the right track for my mood on random shuffle. I like my new composter in my back garden; maybe it's because I've turned 30, but suddenly I have become obsessed with my garden, and I'm finding it very satisfying to collect old tea bags and egg shells and dumping them in the compost bin. I like it when, on a hot day like this, a tiny breeze drifts across my face from the window further down the office. I like watching the bf when he laughs hysterically; he completely loses it, and cries, and clutches at his chest, and there's nothing sweeter. I like Sloppy Giuseppe pizzas from Pizza Express. I like cups of tea, freshly brewed, in a mug not a cup. I like Christina Aguilera in the Candyman video - I think she just looks amazing, and it's beautifully photographed, so lush and rich...

I like it when my iPod manages to spookily pick exactly the right track for my mood on random shuffle. Yes! That is so amazing! It is especially good if it happens when you are walking somewhere on a really sunny day. When this happens I start strutting like I'm Barry Gibb in the 'Staying Alive' video.

I like waffles and hashbrowns and Diet Coke but not too much because they are bad for you.
I like swimming. It is very refreshing.
I also adore my bed and duvet. Perhaps it's something about posting on messageboards that makes us lazy sods who like to snuggle up in bedsheets a lot?
I love musicals.
I love Florence and Venice and Lake Garda and lots of bits of Italy. It is beautiful.
Cats are the best thing ever. They're so furry and purry and dreamysigh.
I like cool breezes on a hot day.
I like wearing hoodies, even though they are not particularly flattering.
I like watching lots of TV. I love old TV programmes like Bugs and SM:TV and the Crystal Maze.
I love my friends. They are the best.

Oh god Junky, I wish you'd have put that poo comment at the beginning because it's all I can remember from this thread! Funny though.
I like getting the train in and out of Wales in Springtime, because you see lots of lambs running around and stumbling over. They're normally legging it away from the train though, after sending the two hours since the previous one mustering up the courage to try the tasty untouched grass on the edge of the field closest to the railway line.
I love the freedom to think for myself.
I love pillows and padded things.
I love playfighting with people.
I love most children's picture books.
Jelly Beans are amazing. I could live off them. It would still be a balanced diet because I'd vary the flavours.
I love warm rain.
I love drinking through straws. Unless it's an alco drink that's just been mixed at the bar or by yourself, because then you normally just get pure vodka (or whatever's in it) for a bit and it hurts.
I love talking through films with people. (Not at the cinema though, that's selfish.)
I love my uni course.
I love the women of daytime tv and Phillip Schofield.
I love sightseeing.
Nothing satisfies me more than jumping in a nice big puddle, or going out of my way to tread on a crunchy leaf.
EDIT: Lots of people posted between me reading Junky's list and posting this, hence my opening statement. I should have waited a bit, and been able to have breakfast.

I like...
Sitting inside where its warm, watching snow fall. Doughnuts from the M&S bakery. Sour skittles (and being able to find a shop which sells them). Seeing a friend I haven't seen for ages. Getting post (not including bills). Having my own space. Driving at night when theres hardly anyone on the road. When you're on a plane and it takes off.

Oh I am so sad too! This thread almost brings a tear to my eye... thelovelykate is like Ghandi or something. I also like my tele watching blanket. I have a telly watching blanket too! Well I have 2: orange fleecy blankie and brown furry blankie. The fleecy blankie is for 'light' use, the huge furry one is for serious business: like when I'm ill, very tired or there's a possibility of post-Prison Break livingroom floor sex. Sitting/lying on the floor to watch telly completely rules. I have a sofa, but it's just for visitors. When my 2 year old nephew comes to stay, I spread a duvet on the floor and we lie around on the floor watching cbeebies and reading books. Life just doesn't get any better. I really like all my lowculture pals - they're some of the funniest, cleverest peeps around. I love the Polish girl in Cafe Nero who took pity on me yesterday when I realised that while hunting for bus fares I'd left the contents of my purse on the kitchen table. She insisted that I took my stuff anyway without paying. What a sweetheart (with a very limited grasp of capitalism).

I like wearing hoodies, even though they are not particularly flattering. Yes! And when you wear them, do something nice for an old person (if you get chance) like holding open a door for them or just smiling back. Because normally they see the hood (even if it's on a stlyish non-tracksuit accompanying hoody), get scared of you (thanks to media stories of HOODED GANG TERROR), and this restores faith in the youth of today. Well this is how it works in my head anyway, and I love doing it.

Things what I love....
Coffee. Porridge also pleases me more than it should, as does muesli.
Sunny mornings are the aceness and make me think of Chelsea Morning by Joni Mitchell, which is even better.
Shouting at the telly with my flatmate.
Bad taste jokes.
Picnics with delicious homemade food.
Reading a really good book on a delayed train so you don't even notice how late it is and, moreover, don't mind.
The sea. End of.
Berlin.
Rummaging through charity shops for fabulous tat.
Waking up next to someone I like.
Oh, and cats. Cats make me feel serene.

Getting post from my friends back home. It's always on nice paper and often has illustrations or badges with it.
That realisation when that you've wasted your day sitting in your friend's living room laughing and watching bad TV but you couldn't be happier.
Sitting on my backstep having a cigarette at stupid o'clock at night. It's one of the most calming times to be alone.
When you meet someone new at a party or in a club and they're too amazing for words. Even if you never see them again, for those few hours you have a new best friend.
That person who can make you smile when you've been crying.
Really good season finales.
Finding something you've wanted to buy for ages by accident.
Radiator-warm clothing on a cold day.
When my dad makes macaroni cheese with two or more cheeses. It's calorific but worth it.
That feeling of being home when I arrive in Leicester station from Chichester.
Sharing a duvet on the sofa with someone.
Smiling for no reason when walking down the street (and the look of confusion on everyone's faces when they see this mopey student grinning inanely)

These are a few of my favourite things -
Cute little dogs.
Sleeping in the all together.
Breaking the ice on puddles with the heel of my shoe.
Being the first person to walk over newly fallen snow.
Walking in heavy snow. (Can you tell I'm more Autumn/Winter than Spring/Summer)
Swimming in the all together.
I like pizzas, more than is healthy. I like brown rice because it is healthy and makes me feel so good.
Getting exercise without realising, like when a wander turns into a day's adventure across town or country.
The fact the Buffy is continuing through comic books fills me with joy.
I love kissing people I like in a bedroom way. I love having fun in the bedroom with people I like in a bedroom way.
I love pop music. Dancing to Girls Aloud is properly my favourite thing to do. I've tried a small range of party drugs but nothing has made be feel as full of positive energy as Wake Me Up.
I love dancing all night. I wish clubs were open for 12 hours at the very least.

Thank you for this lovely thread. I didn't contribute to other thread-that-must-not-be-named, but am more than happy to do so here...
> Long train journeys. Admittedly, I usually fall asleep, but I remember my first train journeys to Nottingham and Edinburgh for university open days, watching the scenery go past, reading and listening to music. As long as I've got a bit of legroom, I'm happy. > And the London Underground. I just love it. > Grainy mustard and mayonnaise. In sandwiches or as a dip. > The Krimml waterfalls in Austria. My perfect place. > Listening to a new album for the first time, and it being unexpectedly brilliant. My fondest memories of this include Savage Garden's Affirmation and Rufus Wainwright's Want One. > A really good game on 'Deal Or No Deal'. > Driving nice and fast (but not speeding) down a certain hill road near my house at night. You can get up to 60mph, and the steep road kind of curves on its way down - it's a great feeling. > That TV clip of the snow leopard from a few months ago. Beautiful. And cats in general. Even though it would be wrong, a tame big cat would be a perfect pet for me. > A good pub quiz. With challenging questions, good beer, and a nice atmosphere. > The first really nice spring day, which usually occurs during February. Nice and crisp in the morning, then gradually warmed by the sun, but still cool enough to need a jumper. > Cinnamon Grahams.

I like the smell of fresh air, just before a storm is coming, and the smell of rain coming in from the sea.
I love mixing up the chilli con carne with the rice until the meal just becomes one, and scooping a nice bit up on a tortilla chip.
I love boozy lunches on Saturday afternoons and then shopping afterwards, especially furniture shopping, and wig browsing.
I love it when the milk froths properly and the cappuccinos look as if they've been topped with snow.
I love coming out of the cinema to presented with beautiful sunshine.
And I love it when Chelsea lose. I love it when Manchester United lose, but not at the moment as I enjoy Chelsea losing more.
And I love turning the temperature down on the shower, so after you've cleaned and cleansed and shampood, the waters gets colder and colder, and I love the way my skin feels after it.

I love when you wake up and your hair doesn't even need straightened.
I LOVE waking up at 3am and realising I can go back to sleep - I used to sometimes set my alarm for halfway through the night specifically for that purpose.
I love when you remember how much you love a song you've not listened to in a while - I've rediscovered my enthusiasm for Whistle for the Choir and Amy Winehouse recently.
Love it when you've just downloaded a song too and you can play it on repeat without getting bored of it.
I love when you have dreams about people you know! And when you can actually remember them! I've actually woken up and found I like people better after having a nice dream with them in.
I love when the Hibees win as I'm the type to not give a shit about football unless my local team wins, and you can feel all patriotic and sing Sunshine on Leith.
On that topic - I love the Proclaimers! Throw The 'R' Away, Letter From America, Cap In Hand, My Old Friend The Blues - amaaaze. I don't think I've ever felt more content than when I drove round in a car with Colin Fox (leader of the SSP) the other week blaring 500 Miles from a soundsystem for the election campaign.
I love looking back over old photos and realising how much you love your friends.
In contrast to Paul above, I love boiling showers and right before you get out giving yourself a hot blast over the heid!
I love being geeky about politics, and knowing people's names. I actually get excited when I see my local MSP. Now that's the height of geekiness.
I love when you get into a show for a while - I go on Hollyoaks binges and watch all the week's worth on Teleport, or Lost online, or SATC on video.
Any blast from the past is pretty fun.

I love finding rare imports and promo CDs of bands I like when rummaging through oxfam music shops.
I love Glasgow. Especially the West End and the Botanic Gardens on a sunny day with my friends.
I love meeting friends unexpectedly too.
I love long coach journeys, and long journeys in general. I also love it when I can catch the bus home from Glasgow, rather than the train. It takes twice as long but its a more interesting journey and gives you time to read books in peace.
I love parties in friends' houses.
I love it when DJs play two songs I love in a row.
I love Aberdeen and the villages round it, with names like Tarty and Clatt. I love discussing politics and taking the piss out of it with people.
I love my student union for selling the Guardian cheaply, so I can get Charlie Brooker and the MediaGuardian for 25p on a Monday.
I love starting to learn random languages (Afrikaans, anyone?) because I can.
I love impulse buying wee things in Ikea.
I love being cuddled.
I love repeats of Captain Scarlet (the 60's version).

Porridge also pleases me more than it should My friend, I assure you there is nothing wrong with a healthy love of porridge, for it is the breakfast of champions. I like the idea of this thread much better than the other one. I love: Getting actual letters from real people in the post. It's ace. Waking up and thinking it's a work day, only to realise seconds later that it's the weekend. Big cups of sugary tea. Going for long walks in the autumn (oh God, I can't believe I just wrote that). Labradors. People who thank me when I let them pass/hold the door open for them/point out something they've dropped etc. Finding the canteen has a new type of soup that I've never tried before. Hearing an awesome song for the very first time and just knowing that it's going to become one of your favourites. Crusty bread with a bit of cheese. The smell of chlorine (I have no idea why). Taking pictures of nothing in particular. People you haven't heard from ages getting back in touch with you for no reason other than because they miss talking to you. Excuse me, I have something in my eye...

I like words.
I like old fashioned English words like cantankerous, snaffle, pilfer, and purloin.
I like really long german words like Meerschweinchen, Geschlechtsverkehr, Empfängnisverhütung or Bundestagsabgeordnete. I like that they mean guinea pig, sex, contraception and member of parliament respectively but can be literally translated as little sea pig, gender traffic, beginning protection and... er... member of parliament.
I like the greek word for ship. It's a really fun word to say.
I like words with 'oo' sounds in them, like hoop or zoo, and I always elongate the oo when I say them. I also like words that end in 'ung' because it sounds like the noise an elastic band makes.
I like learning to write in a different alphabet by compulsively writing my name and my friend's names in said script.
I maybe like words a little too much.
EDIT: I may like words but I can't spell them.
