What's your elective, LM? If it's anything I studied you're welcome to any of my notes/essays.
I, on the other hand, have just finished transcribing one of my interviews for my research. AND I renewed my BL membership this morning.

You can be our motivational coach/personal trainer. Once, at uni, I made a motivational sign for myself to hang above my desk, as I was hopeless at revision. It read: "If you are reading this, then you are not working, and you get a sad face (drawing of sad face)." I don't think motivation is a strength of mine. EDIT: It keeps saying mo'ivation in the line above, even though I'm spelling it with a 't'. How odd.

I've been intending to do an hour of shorthand every day for the last three weeks I've been off. I've done it once. I have twelve novels to read this semester, so my plan was to have them all read by the time I start back in two weeks, but I still need to buy them, and I can't be bothered going out to buy them. I have to organise an interview with a celebrity and write a feature on any topic for Journalism classes, each is to be 2000 words and are both due when I return, but I have no idea what to do about them and when I think about them I just want to cry and start doing something else. It doesn't help that I'm getting fairly decent marks for essays I'm doing the day before they are due, it's giving me false confidence for exams.

I'm currently doing my A levels, and I have some exams later this month. I'm convinced I'm going to completely muck up at least one of them (damn you, Computing) as my memory is awful which really doesn't help in this subject and I have no focus at all when revising. Also, I also tend to get terribly unmotivated for a few weeks after Christmas - right in time for exams. Worst timing ever.

What A Levels are you doing? English Combined, Computing, Sociology and General Studies. Thats quite a mix isn't it, i took English Language, Literature and History. So, my revision was all writing, hours and hours. What texts are you doing for English?

I am currently in my last year of A Levels and I have a maths exam in 3 days time, it's a retake, then I have an A2 one the week after. I am seriously panicking because my marks in the past papers I have done have been getting worse as weeks have gone on but it serves me right for being a lazy fucker before Christmas. I also am supposed to be revising for mocks in French and English Lit but that has not happened, and I have to get an A in French to get into my first choice uni to do French and Russian (so that'll be 3 lowculturers doing or with a degree in Russian). I must learn to stop procrastinating. Is anyone else doing maths A level? It is one of the biggest hunks of pain I have ever faced.

I had a nice free day to start work on my two essays. But sadly have spent the time watching Mitchell & Webb, pissing about on here and building a quite frankly amazing crazy golf course in the kitchen. It had a WATER JUMP. Gareth - you're doing some film/tv related degree aren't you? As it's pretty much my field, I would be happy to look over work for you and give you any advice. Ooh now that is very kind of you. I'm a bit funny about showing people that I actually know the stuff that I write (even non real-life cyber people), but personal statement advice may be sought. I've just had an email from my lecturer telling me that one of the essays due in for next monday is now due in for next thursday. This is slightly unprofessional but most welcome.

7 years after graduating the first time, I'm applying to go back to uni to train as a Mental Health Nurse. If I can decide what to write in my personal statement and pluck up the courage to ask my boss for an employer's reference that is!

Aww Lisa, good for you! So by the end of the week, will you have that reference?
I am sitting here making notes on Extreme Pilgrim as I type. My study is going OK this week so far.

Thanks Rad, I've just made an appointment to speak to him this afternoon - fingers crossed. Going to write my personal statement this week - so exciting!!
You PhD sounds really interesting - any chance of the Holloyoaks priest getting a mention?! Seriously though, I have so much admiration for PhD students - my best friend finished hers last year and I can't imagine concentrating on one overall topic for so long!

Fantastic. Hope it all goes through OK.
No Hollyoaks priest, it's just on factual media. It would have given me too much of a headache to do ficitonal as well, though I did a project on religion in EastEnders and The Archers last year.

My work for 2008 is going swimmingly. Yesterday I handed in a 2500 word essay ON TIME. This is a very big step for me, and it was hammered home that essay punctuality has been a bit of a problem for me recently when the lady who takes our essays, who must see shitloads of students everyday, actually congratulated me for getting it in on time (although she probably only remembers me because I was halfpissed last time and ended up knocking over her stack of fake christmas presents that were next to her tree, and the time before got her to stamp me with her Judoon Scanner-like essay date stamp. We have a bond.) Also the essay was not a load of old rubbish and I even read it again for fun afterwards. Tomorrow I am going to be working 9 to 5 in the library on another essay which is in for Thursday. My housemate played Dolly Parton's 9 to 5 earlier and it has been decided that I can carry out the whole first verse in order to give the day the best start. Hopefully orange juice will do for the cup of ambition. EDIT: What a horribly self obsessed post, even by my standards. Here is a study related picture of the aforementioned Dolly in the hopes of remedying this:

It wasn't!
I never get to see anyone to hand in my essays, they are date scanned electronically then put in the box.

At my uni, we just put our essays in a box. We write the date of submission on them, and a secretary lifts them at 4pm every day. I've heard countless stories of people submitting essays at 8am the day after they are due and saying "Oh, I must have just missed the 4pm collection" and getting away with it. Also, because we can date our essay coversheets ourselves, people attempt to backdate late work and then claim "Well, I don't know what happened, I know I submitted it on time, look at the date on it", although I can't be certain that this has ever definitely worked for anyone.

The first assignment of this study year was handed in promptly by the whole course before the 12pm deadline. Lovely. Except then, as the spin goes, a cleaner thought that over 110 research scripts sat on a desk in the student law office were in fact only destined for the recycling bin and duly chucked them out.
Id type more, but rereading that one incident in an onrunning series of ineptitude, Im still incapable of thinking of anything beyond questioning how an 'institute of learning' can be run by such utter twats.
(In addition, Im doing the Legal Practice Course, so am useful to anyone doing Law. I also did English undergrad, so can be of help there too).
