JK said shes half way through the new book and she might kill of 2 characters in the new HP book.
Any suggestions as to who they might be? I'm hoping not Snape or Luna, not really to fussed over any one else.
The obvious 2 for the chop being Harry and Voldemort, but thats quite a cop-out.

Radio4 (Im a sad cunt) had her quoted as saying she always "goes for the main charecters". Its bound to be a couple of high profilers. I have to say I admire the women for not going down the Star Trek route and just occasionally killing off "Ensign No.6"

I think I need to reread these books, as I remember last year having the strong opinion that two characters would end up sacrificing themselves for Harry. Possibly Ron n Hermy.
Ideally I'd like Ginny to die. Really horribly and painfully. Perhaps Voldemort can rape her first. She's just so shit and it should be Luna who ends up with Harry. I'll scream if JK makes her have to settle for Neville.

Ron and Hermione are so much better than Harry in every conceivable way that God himself would intervene if they tried to sacrifice themselves for him. Nothing would make me happier than Harry being bumped off. He is such a dullard that I'm happy every time Malfoy bullies him.

Voldemort must die, surely. Its what all the books have been building up to. JK cant leave old Volde to rule the world. The whole Horcrux thing means that Harry must either die or sacrifice something (possibly his wizarding powers) in order for Voldemort to be fully dead.
I hope Hagrid dies in the first few pages. The was his speech is written is really fucking annoying.
Ron and Hermione are bound to get it on in this book.
At the end of the last book, Harry said he wasnt going to go back to school. The books are written one for each of his school years. That doesnt really make sense if he isnt even going to go to Hogwarts in the last one.

As an avid mugglenet reader, I know that Hagrid is going to die as Black is the 1st stage in alchemy (Sirius Black died in book 5), White is the 2nd stage (Then Albus Dumbledore died in book 6) and Red is the 3rd stage (Rubeus Hagrid will therefore die).
But yeah Harry is sure to die methinks.

Oooh.
Intresting.
I love Luna too, and i loved Ron and Hermoine's growing relationship. Ginny seemed to come from nowhere.
btw, i do love my Harry/Draco slash - hilarious - very 'wand-like'

Hagrid is soooo dead.
Neville too probably too, but if Harry dies Neville will probably survive. There might be another twist there with the prophecy.
When JK bigs up people dying (like with Sirius) it's sometimes not anyone that bad. Remember there are a million characters not just the main bulk - Tonks, Percy, Flitwick, Cho... could all perish - and are not gonna cause tears.
And I love Harry in the books.

I first read "prophecy" as "pregnancy". Now that would be good.
I hope that major characters die, as it's the last book I'm hankering for plenty of bloodshed.
Does anybody else feel that JK has made Neville and Peter Pettigrew far too similar for it to be irellevant?

I'd cry if Tonks died! Who would lovely Lupin have then?

I hard JK wanted to even write a final EXTRA chapter on the end of the book, in which she could kill Harry, so no other money-grabbers could claim him and continue writing about him

How could they do that anyway? He's her character.
And yeah the final chapter is already written and explains what happens to them all after Voldy vs. Harry

How could they do that anyway? He's her character. Any copyright stops after a while - I think it's 75 years (one intellectual property lecture at Uni completely went over my head). Not sure what happens if the author dies too, or what the publisher's rights are if JK decides to switch to a different one.

I think it depends on the copyright (although I imagine JK Rowling has quite a tight contract) as further uses of the 'creation' can be dictated by the family of the creator.

Perhaps Voldemort can rape her first. I don't want to get all moral high ground on your ass, but there's really no need for that kind of talk. I saw Harry and Ginny getting together ever since Chamber Of Secrets! I was delighted when it finally happened in the last book. I don't think there will be neat little romantic solutions with everyone, but obviously our core three will be hooked up. I don't think she will kill Harry. I think poor old Neville may get it, as well as one of the Weasleys. Hagrid I thought would go in Order Of The Phoenix, so I'm not sure on him. I am really really excited about the last book, but at the same time really sad as I know in 2009, we won't get another one.

If this is meant to be out next year, is it likely that we'll be getting a title within the next few months? Can anybody remember when "...& The Half Blood Prince" was revealed. Simple things make me happy.

I believe the last title was released with the release date, in around early 05.

The release date and title won't be out until 6 months before release.
If it is released on 07/07/07 then we won't hear until January I'm afraid.
JK said the other day that a new title came into her head whilst in the shower and she's changed it.

Although the titles probably aren't the set in stone things that (she claims) she's had in her head since day one. I'll be gutted if it's Harry Potter and The Soapy Flannel.

CAN WE NOT GO DOWN (or is it up?) THE ROUTE OF JK ROWLING'S LADY GARDEN? Up or down? I've no idea. You'll have to ask one of the ladies here. They'll know.

I would sacrifice any of them for the lovely Snape to live but I fear he will have to die.
