Also - isn't it pretty much accepted now that Harry is a horcrux and will have to sacrifice himself for everyone - i can't see it ending any other way. I am wondering if Ron, Hermione, Neville or one of the other 'good' characters will be forced to kill him for that reason. Snape might do it, but he's already had to kill one person he didn't (as far as I can make out) want to kill, and he's always had a dark side anyway, so I reckon one of the 'heroes' will have to kill Harry this time in order to stop Voldemort doing it. It will also be kind of a metaphor for euthanasia, seeing as how there are always lots of (alleged) metaphors for real issues in the books. I am wondering if Snape might kill Voldemort himself once Harry is gone. And die at the same time, obviously. Oooh, all this guess work is driving me nuts! I foolishly raced through HBP instead of savouring it over the week, now I have seven days of agony ahead...

I foolishly raced through HBP instead of savouring it over the week, now I have seven days of agony ahead... Have you got a chest freezer? Lie down in that and get a neighbour to pop in and defrost you on Friday night. I'm going to start on Half Blood Prince this week. I've forgotten most of it so it'll be like new to me.

I have to go down South on Friday to attend my cousin's wedding on the 21st. I've been informed that I'm not allowed to read during the service or the reception. Selfish bitch.

That's ample reading time (all night, all morning) and weddings never start until lunchtime anyway. There's also about two hours between service and reception where all that happens is people "mingle" and the photographs are taken.

Tell your cousin that you'll wait until the wedding comes out on video.

It's my 'final fling' thing at uni for the end of grad week which unfortunately I sorta have to attend as its probs the last time we will all be together. My plan is - get very drunk, go out and get a taxi back via Tesco's to pick up the book and then read the next day in a pit of my own hangover hell.
It makes me sad that I can't savour it and am going to have to read it as quick as possible in order for it not to be spoiled.
If Harry doesn't die I'm gonna be mightily pissed off.

I'm off to Tescos before I start work for my copy. I also heard another spoiler which will make me sad but also laugh my arse off if it's true.

The cynical side of me thinks Harry will be killed off to ensure that no-one else can write about him in the future (a bit like Judith Kerr killing off Mog, the star of classics such as Mog the Forgetful Cat, in Goodbye Mog) and thus ensuring JK Rowling can keep her empire to herself. The kids at my Mum's school think he'll commit suicide to save everyone, but I can't see it going down the whole 'martyr, suicide' route as that's possible not a message JK would want to give out.
It's driving me crazy - Saturday is still so long away!

Aaaaaargh, I've ordered the book off amazon for the first time ever (Usually I just stroll down to the supermarket at some point on the day it comes out) because I'm uber cautious of spoilers this time, and I find out now I'm working 12-4 on Saturday, in a shop. Full of people. Some of which may have read the book. Not fair! The post doesn't even usually come til 12! And if there's no one in to collect it, cause I'm at work, I'll have to go down to the post office to get it! So I'll have to wait til Sunday to collect it, and is the post office even effin open on a Sunday?! Argh. This whole work thing is really interfering with my Harry Potter schedule.

Is this thread still open for open spoilers after the release though? For people like myself who don't have much of a life have arranged their hectic schedules around The Deathly Hallows?

Is this thread still open for open spoilers after the release though? For people like myself who don't have much of a life have arranged their hectic schedules around The Deathly Hallows? I too have arranged my hectic weekend schedule (Hollyoaks omnibus, sleeping) to allow the reading of The Deathly Hallows to take place over the whole weekend. I'm tempted to call in at my neighbours and demand that they have no friends round this weekend who could disturb my peace. But then I think how depressing Monday will be when it's all over and convince myself that I'd be best to read a chapter a week to make it last. But then I'll find out what happens before I've read it. But then Monday will be so depressing when it's over. But.... oh, it's so traumatic!!

There's no way I'll be clicking anywhere near this thread til after I've read the book, so spoiler away.
I really am genuinely worried now though - my mum is in Ireland on Saturday, so if the post comes after I have to leave (as it surely will - I don't have to leave til 11 but the post is usually later than that. Christ, I remember when the post used to come before I'd even left for school.), I won't be able to get the book til MONDAY! MONDAY! I would explode before I got the chance to collect the thing from the post office! Grr, if only my letterbox was big enough to fit a massive book through, I wouldn't have to worry. Hopefully I can bully my sister into coming up and waiting for the post for me, but even then I'd be worried, she's half blind and away with the fairies, the posties (who are fucking impatient) would have given up waiting at the door by the time she got down to open it)

I'd cancel the Amazon order then, and pop to the shop on Saturday.

I'd cancel the Amazon order then, and pop to the shop on Saturday. Definitely, otherwise it will be too upsetting for words, and you'll probably end up buying a copy on your way to work on Saturday anyway! I'm going to do some midnight loitering around Govan Asda or Pollock Tesco I think - Govan Asda is particularly nice at that time!!

I read online somewhere that 'some major highstreet chains' (I'm assuming they are referring to Tesco and Asda) might put the book on sale before midnight because they have nothing to lose since this is the last in the series. I might go and check at lunchtime and straight after work, just in case.

If I cancel, I'll have to pay for it myself, which I don't have any money to do, and will have to wait even longer, haha

Can you change the mailing address on amazon? This could be the solution to all my problems.

I ordered from play.com today, with the last book it was here at about 9:30am and paying for delivery really annoys me

I'm going to cry when I finish it, regardless of what happens. I can't believe it's the last one. I shall get mine on Saturday morning and then I shall go home and not stop reading till I've finished. I''m normally done by Saturday night. And then I read it again. I hope Hagrid dies. And Ginny. I'd love Neville to get his revenge on Bellatrix, but I think it's far more likely that she'll just kill him. I reckon Wormtail will repay his life debt to Harry by saving Ron or Hermione, and then Snape will die to save Harry. I'm so excited! Why isn't it Saturday already?

I know, I have a feeling I'll definetly cry too. I cried at the end of Green Wing ffs!
I can't change the mailing address as it's ALREADY BEEN DISPATCHED! This worries me but also makes me very excited as I realised that this really was it, the last ever Harry Potter book is sitting in a darkened sorting office somewhere, a pit stop on its journey to ME! Gah. Hopefully the old couple downstairs will let me put a sign on my door saying to deliver it to them.

I heard on the radio this morning that Asda won't be getting their stock of the books in, apparently due to unpaid debts.

I can't change the mailing address as it's ALREADY BEEN DISPATCHED! . That's made me so excited to know that Harry Potter books are 'out there' - I keep expecting to see them flying past my window like the post in the films! Somethingbiblical - I really hope the old couple below you come good and you get your book on Friday x
