I saw on Richard & Judy yesterday they've done a book about Jackie magazine in the form of an annual. Every girl in my school read Jackie and I used to look at old copies of my aunt's. The illustrations were great and pure 70s. Also loved Cathy & Clare's problem page about spots and how to get a boy to like you. (I'm still trying on the last one!)
Didn't know Nina Myskow was the Editor though. I wondered why she was famous.

Jackie was the girl's bible. I loved it and mourn the death of the photo story (a medium grappling for survival in tabloid "problem" scenarios involving bad taste undergarments). I believe the mag was named after a young Jaqueline Wilson.

Did anyone ever get a confidential reply off Cathy when she moved to Shout magazine?

Did anyone ever get a confidential reply off Cathy when she moved to Shout magazine? Something about that question suggests that you did! I preferred Philip in Just 17.

Ooh, me and my bestfriend wrote to Cathy and Clare about this girl in our class who had a crush on the teacher. It was printed! Which was thrilling. I loved Jackie, my older next door neighbour bought it and passed it on to me which made me feel tres sophisticated.

I got that massive hardback Jackie book lately. It's shit. I just got it because I was buying stuff on Amazon and succumbed to the "spend another £4.48 to qualify for free delivery" thing. The content is entirely from the mid-1970s and there are virtually no photos, just crappy drawings. It's also the size of the monolith in 2001. A regrettable purchase.
