nintendo just sent me a copy of animal crossing (labelled 'player's choice') so presumably it's coming out here. if you have a gamecube, you owe it to yourself to get it. it's like the sims by nintendo, only based on the system clock so all sorts of crazy stuff happens depending on what day you play it / what time you play it / what season it is / etc.

I got this on Import. I think i just got sick of having to insert the Freeloader disc everytime before i play. I did enjoy it while it lasted. But nothing happend in July. I did enjoy sending people gifts. Although i never got much back. Cheapskate duck!

I shall certainly be getting this. It looks adorable. And I love making new friends with adorable Nintendo creations. Does that mean it's only going to be £20 Ste?

I have absolutely no idea. Further investigation has revealed the copy I've been sent to be a US version. They should put it out at twenty quid, given its age, but this is Nintendo.
I also got Fire Emblem today! Which is meant to be brilliant. And Ham Ham something and the new Kirby thing.

I devoted a ludicrous amount of time to this game.
I imported it last March and rung it completely dry. Lasted me until March 04 though, it's the most time/effort i've ever given to a video game.
Has anyone ever gotten a Gracie shirt? Just how bloody fast do they expect people to be able to tap A?

I just wrote a long thread about how much I love animal crossing, then I realised I was talking about harvest moon. Anyone have harvest moon?

Ooh I can't wait to play this game, I've been waiting for a PAL release for aaaaages. Nintendo definitely make the best games, who wants realism when we can have fluffy animals.
I also love the idea of Harvest Moon: It's A Wonderful life. I like the fact you can get married, have a kid and then die. I'm holding out for Animal Crossing though as I've read they're quite similar.

I'm holding out for Animal Crossing though as I've read they're quite similar. You get to choose your own wife out of three possible maidens. I wanted to marry the old rich woman who lives in the big villa, but that's not allowed. Most people get the blond bimbo waitress Muffy cos she's the easiest one to persuade. Just give her bunch of flowers everyday.

Just read that there's going to be an Animal Crossing on Nintendo DS when it launches. It will be a new game with wirless connection for multiplayer with up to 16 players. Cool.

i write for a magazine called edge. and occasionally other things too, but mostly not games ones, and mostly just edge. oh, and it turns out the animal crossing is an american edition, hence the odd player's choice thing.

Yes. At least, perhaps I should rephrase this, the exclusive games on their systems always turn out to be consistently the most worthwhile having. Metroid Prime and Zelda: Ocarina Of Time as an example are the two best games I have ever played. I have to admit that since the launch of Gamecube Nintendo themselves have gone drastically downhill on the global smash hit epics but their upcoming releases and 2nd party games are like gold. You write for Edge, that is incredibly cool.

Ico / Halo / Frequency / Eye Toy / Gran Turismo / Project Gotham 2 / lots more. Nintendo games can be brilliant, so can Sony games, and so can Microsoft games, and so can games all three secure as exclusives for their machines. Nintendo used to be the best, but past performance is no guarantee of future success. It's not even indicative, particularly as markets and motivations change.

I got this yesterday and had a 2-hour fiddle with it when I got home. I think I've got past the annoying "do this for me would you please?" thing from Tom Nook now and I'm left free to roam and do what I like. Which is very daunting.
I like Belle the cow that calls me "cuddles" best, but I'm quite keen on Cleo the donkey, cos she calls me "sugar".
Like I said, only just started, so any advice from anyone? Ta

Like I said, only just started, so any advice from anyone? Ta Find someone else who's just started using the magic of the internet and trade items with them, particularly fruit. Key there is 'just started' - it's no fun if you're just being given stuff by someone who's already seen everything there is to see. Play it properly, don't cheat. Talk to everyone. Remember it's designed to be played for 15-30 minutes every day, not huge sessions at once. Make sure you go see KK Slider gig at least once. Send letters to inhabitants for presents. Keep the place neat and tidy. Grow yourself an orchard. Get a GBA link-up cable and visit your island. Try playing at different times of the day. Choose a furniture set to collect. etc. Nintendo sent me an Animal Crossing calendar the other day and it's just the most amazingly cute thing I've ever seen.

Thanks Ste, I saw the Harvest Moon last night with my friends Otis and Quetzal, and Tortimer gave me a moon! I found a Nintendo logo in the dump, and sent a fossil away to the museum to be analysed.
There's so much stuff to collect/do though that I'm bamboozled by choice!
I'm very excited about visiting my friend Stewart's village, and I think I'm going to find something nice to send Si.
It's a game that makes me feel all warm inside. *sigh*

I'm getting rather annoyed that I keep sending letters with presents in and no-one in my village replies...

I was astounded that none of the residents bothered to consult each other about what halloween outfits they were wearing.

Okay, I'm stumped: in Animal Crossing: Wild World on the DS I currently have what looks like a lot of mice/insects/critters running across the floor in my house. My little character goes "OMG!" (or whatever) every time he seems them, but I don't quite know how to get them to go away.
Anybody willing to help a brother out?
