has anyone been to this yet? he searches gaydar every night (projected on a big screen) and the audience then chooses which man he should sleep with. he then goes off and has sex, and reports back the next night. the people he is corresponding with / shagging don't know that he is projecting their messages to an audience click here for long reviewsounds quite amusing although slightly morally dubious

It's not a bad idea for a show, it's certainly deals with sex and sexuality in a more interesting way than XXX with it's audience plants and desperate attempts to shock an audience which is already bored with the whole "lets be controversial and flash our tits/cock" idea. I have a slight problem with it though, in that it's essentially just a more extreme version of something Graham Norton did at the Fringe many years ago, i.e. when he was funny. He placed a personal ad encouraging people to call during a certain timeslot which matched up with when his show was on. If no-one called (on Kitty phone, in it's first public appearence) then he would ridicule the messages for our enjoyment. He would also order a pizza and get the delivery boy to act out the intro to a porn movie as well. Graham, as far as I know anyway, never had sex with anyone that responded to the ad, but it's still a similar idea. Graham has also never had sex with 5000 blokes and 1 girl, as Tim claims to have done, but we only have his word for that.
I was going to say that I had two issues with it. The other being that the gaydar profile which Tim is using for the show has already been made public, which ruins the 'unfixed' element of the show, but I've just checked the address and it's an inactive profile, so I can't point you in the direction of it, should you wish to be a part of the Fringe.

According to the papers today, Gaydar have shut his profile down to protect the anonymity of other users. Wonder how it will affect the show.

Ah, Dirty Fan Male, I've been considering trying to catch that, but I'm a bit dubious about paying 8 quid for a 40 minute show and I get the feeling that it might end up being a bit repetitive and freak-show-esque about half way through. I might wait and see waht the reviews say.

I was quite curious to see it, but I doubt I'll bother.
I am planning on seeing Julie Burchill Is Away, which I think was written by Tim Fountain (he had something to do with it anyway).

Tim Fountain has been banned from Gaydar and they have taken legal action against him. He now can't use it at all/mention it in his show.

I read that he didn't go about meeting strange men, but he'd go home at night and compose gaydar profiles with a friend, and it was all pretend. The article I read said that they thought the show would still be worth seeing though.
