Not she of A Hard Knock Life but rather the Queen of sugar sweet, bitter sweet Scandinavian pop appears to be back: www.myspace.com/anniemusicDoes anyone know anything about her new stuff? I never understood why she wasn't particularly successful first time round.

I've had I Know Your Girlfriend Hates Me for a while now and at first it just felt like they'd cut and pasted bits of Chewing Gum and re-jigged it but after a while it sort of takes on a new life. I've been singing it non stop for about two weeks. It's amazing. Though, having seen the video, I'm slightly miffed that there isn't an ice cream van towards the end like there was in the video that I envisaged.
There's another song called The Crush which is ten shades of amazing. Apparently she wrote it when she was 16 or something which kind of figures when you hear the lyrics but, yet, the simplicity of it is what adds to its brilliance.
I'm dying to hear her version of Two of Hearts that was supposed to be the lead single from the album. I'm guessing they're trying to do a Robyn where they release a song to get her talked about first and then release the shit hot single afterwards.

Is The Crush as good as Heartbeat? That song is just all things dreamy.
I'm rather excited now about her return.

Imagine Me Plus One mixed with Anniemal then remixed by Almighty Records. It's that good.

I really like the Girlfriend video for some reason. It looks a bit cheap, it reminds me of Calvin Harris' The Girls and doesn't feature any ice cream but it's still quite fun.
Find Yours To Keep by Teddybears if you can. It's got Annie on vocals and is rather good. There's a bit about two-thirds in where her voice goes where he voice goes through an electronic cheese grater.

I really like the song but the video looks as if it is an indent for the awful gay channel "Flaunt".

It's all very nice and all, but am I the only one who finds her a teensy bit overpraised?

I can't stop listening to the new single, it's so slinky and addictive, even her voice sounds like the kettle's just gone off.
I can pluck out about 4 songs that I think are wonderful, but I certainly wouldn't place her debut album as a classic - because it's so unrivaled in terms of what it is I think that's what makes it feels so precious if nothing else.

I find that I only listen to maybe 3 songs from her last album - the others are definite skips now. She's ace in a UK pop context, but put in her in Scandinavian context, and I'd say there are better: Bertine, Linda Sundblad, Sally Shapiro, Robyn etc. etc.

Those Hos! Girls Aloud have forced Norwegian popstar Annie to drop a track from her upcoming album.
The track 'My Love Is Better' featured backing vocals from the British pop band, who were unhappy with producer/writer Brian Higgins for using them on his collaboration with Annie.
"The girls can't believe Brian didn't let them know first," a source told Teletext.
"Basing a song for another artist around the girls' demo vocals is cheeky of him, to put it mildly."
Annie, real name Anne Lilia Berge Strand, will release Don't Stop in July. Her previous album Anniemal featured the singles 'Heartbeat' and 'Chewing Gum'.

The bit about Girls Aloud "forcing" her to drop the song is bollocks, by the way. Apparently they were fine with it, and it was record company red tape that was the problem.

It's actually double bollocks - I think the song is still on the album, just with different backing vocals.

They were indistinguishable to begin with - if it's actually the girls still doing minor, minor background vocals on the promo thing that leaked last week. But who cares about that song anyway, clearly it's all about 'Songs remind me of you', which completely lives up to its hype.

It's PR & marketing fluff. Girls Aloud's fans will see this, think "who's annie?", hotfoot it to myspace, see Annie, realise she's electropop silver, and download her album. And just how else would a Norwegian popstrel get herself in the papers if not with a manufactured 'set-to' with a British tabloid-friendly act.

I dont like the album sampler- Songs Remind Me of You has really dissapointed me.
She just seems to have re-recorded Anniemal really. Oh Annie, you have been away for nearly five years, you could have updated your sound!
