The thought of that frigid Ice Queen playing someone as vulnerable as Dusty Springfield, whose real strength was imbuing her songs with emotion, makes me want to vomit.
They should get Sam Fox to do it. She was great on Celebrity Stars In Their Eyes.

Please let it not be true. I've not heard of such bad casting since Uma Thurman as Emma Peel. Any London drag act would be an improvement on Nicole.

As much as I like Nicole as an actress and would make a point of seeing most films that she's in, I sincerely hope she doesn't get her acting chops around Mary O'Brien.
Now Renée Zellweger is quite a different prospect. I have a feeling she'd be quite marvellous in the role, and could team up for a third time with Ewan McGregor, who'd make a great Cilla Black.

In January of 2006 it was announced that Charlize Theron was going to star in this with Ang Lee directing. She even turned up to the Oscars the next month with a cheap Dusty hairdo. I think she would be perfect. She has the frame to play Dusty. But the real question about this film and the casting is: WHO WILL PLAY THE PET SHOP BOYS?!

Nicole can be a great actress every now and again (I still think she's brilliant in To Die For) but for the last few years, I haven't been able to understand any of her performances due to her impenetrable frozen face. That can't bode well for portraying Dusty.
Don't like the sound of this film being set in her later years in the US either.
Saying that, this could be a fantastic opportunity for a re-release of Nothing Can Be Proved. Or In Private.

I didn't know where to post this, but has anyone else considered the naming of Nicole's baby is rather an odd choice? I mean apart from being the usual celebwhack, it's perilously close to being Sunday Roast.
I vote the next one be called Friday Fish.
