And so, the un-film able Alan Moore graphic novel has finally been er.. filmed. It's been in development hell for years and years, until the Director of 300 gave it a shot. The teaser trailer was released today and it looks amazing (I admit it, I am a fan boy). It's either going to be brilliant, or will bomb at the box office for being far too dark/downbeat/long/smart for it's own good. Click the pic for the trailer link

It'll not be as good as the book for the simple reason that the book is way too complex to compact into 120 odd minutes of family pleasing entertainment.
.....and if they change the ending in these post 9/11 times I'll be round there to kick the Minute Men out of them.

True, but from what I've heard, the "real" film will be the Extended DVD cut. Gerard Butler has done the narration for the animated sequences "Tales of the Black Freighter" based on the novel within Watchmen, which won't be in the cinema release, but will be included in the DVD throughout the movie.
I imagine the cinematic release will be good, but the better cut and story will, for obvious time reasons, be for the DVD, much like the Lord Of the Ring extended DVD's.
(I apologise for the overload of nerd in this post.)

Since 9/11, the villains plot has become ever more relevant to the world we inhabit now and I do wonder when New York will be decimated by a giant green "alien" thing ....also the cliffhanger ending to Issue 11 is really quite wonderful as it totally turns the Superhero comic on his head.
