Not as good as Ratatouille but on a par with The Incredibles which I loved.

It was all right, but I've come to realise that this stuff just leaves me cold. I simply don't 'get' it in the way that other people seem to.

It was very cute and adorable. Probably not quite up to the usual Pixar standards for me, but still worth a watch. We got in a bit late, halfway through the trailers, and didn't see the new Pixar teaser for 09 (if it exists), so I did a bit of googling and discovered they've announced their films right up to 2012! They are... 2009 - Up, a story about a young kid and an old man who thinks he's wasted his life going on an adventure. 29009/10 - Toy Story 1 and 2 in 3D 2010 - TOY STORY 3 Summer 2011 - Newt - an animated journey in the life of Hollyoaks' most troubled teen. Except its actualyl about the last two blue newts in existence, who are being forced to mate, but hate each other. Christmas 2011 - TheBear and the Bow- a fairy story! 2012 (2012!!!) - Cars 2.

I loved it. I've seen most Pixar offerings but I usually find them insipid and the cutsey characters off-putting. This however I thought was enchanting, particularly the way it captured the sense of Wall-E's loneliness and it was visually incredible. The themes it touched upon (and by this I mean solitude rather than environmentalism) were beyond what I thought Pixar would tackle but they explored it wonderfully.

I did like it, but it really did feel like two films welded together - the first "silent movie" half and the second half which felt like superior Space-Disney, with the comedy misfit robots and chase sequences and "oh no - Wall-E in peril" bits. Basically it was a really cute short film extended beyond its capacity, which is a shame, because I think Pixar could have done somethnig genuinely different with this.
