Oh wow this could be amazing! Tori would have to be involved of course. Half of them looked about 20 years too old to be in school at the time of the show, the spin off may have to be in a retirement home.
Off-topic but I was also very intrigued by another thing mentioned in the article:
"Spinoffs are hot this development season. Fox is developing two: "Cleveland," centered on the Cleveland Brown character from the hit animated comedy "Family Guy," and a "Prison Break" offshoot set at a female prison."

I have heard that the new series will focus on an entire new group of teens, but I suspect it will be based on the amazing Degrassi: The Next Generation model which had the kids from the original pop up from time to time as adults in the community, parents and teachers. Some were permanent cast members and some were cameos. Some continued their storylines from the original series and some were completelty different. But the focus will most likely be the new cast, as it should be.
There are lots of opportunities here. 90210 managed to have dozens of great characters and they could even incorporate some Melrose Place cast members since the shows were linked (I am still mystified why they never moved Jennie Garth onto Melrose when 90210 ended instead of leaving her to do all of those Lifetime movies).
I just hope the kids have distinct personalities and are happy to be rich / happy to be poor like the original and do not follow the current moody zombie model of The OC and Gossip Girl.

It's rumoured that Tori Spelling is coming back for the spinoff too.
Tori Spelling > Jennie Garth.

Tori just keeps offering her services. As far as I know no-one from CW has even asked her or returned her calls. I love it when people publically volunteer to star in things and have the producers go 'Thanks ...but no thanks.'
EDIT: I just remembered that rumour about Sean Penn turning up to things dressed as Catwoman, hoping to get the role. Brilliant.
EDIT EDIT: Sean Young. Not Sean Penn, that would be weird.

Let's cut to the chase.
When is Shannon gonna show up? Or more to the point when is the speculation and rumours over whether Shannon will make a guest appearance gonna start? That's gonna be the life-blood for the series for two years at least.

Years ago, Charlene Tilton off Dallas, did an entire photoshoot at her own expense, dressed as Lana Turner as she wanted to play the part in the biopic. I don't even think the movie got made in the end.

You can all rest safe in the knowledge that the rubbish "Steve" guy with the curly hair is in it, I saw him say so on E! News. Or he may have been just assuming he's in it. What about Luke Perry? He must be about 60 by now.
Surely Tori will be in it; she's TV royalty.

I stand corrected!
In other amazing casting news: Jessica Walters will play Tabiath Mills, an alcoholic grandmother. Hopefully they'll rename her Lucille III.

First Look at New Cast(Left to right, Dustin Milligan as Ethan Ward, AnnaLynne McCord as Naomi Bennett, Jessica Walter as Tabitha Mills, Shenae Grimes as Annie Mills, Tristan Wilds as Dixon Mills, Lori Loughlin as Debbie Mills, Ryan Eggold as Ryan Matthews, Jessica Stroup as Daphne "Silver" Silver, and Michael Steger as Navid Shirazi) *Got the info from Wikipedia so most of this is probally crap * I must admit i was too young to catch the orignal 90210 (did manage to catch the THS! on it though) so was looking forward to seeing what this one would be like but from the looks of it doesnt really seem any diffrent from the other teen dramas at the moment. Shame.

Nope, for once Wikipedia is right. The CW issued their new season press release this week and it had pretty much all of that in, excluding Donna Martin.
Gah, the men in the cast aren't wowing me yet. Ethan Ward is my current favourite but, in my heart, I'm settling.

Hannah Zuckerman-Vasquez! 'cameo role'. I hope this means that she will just tag along with everyone and make things awkward by being a dork and then the pretty girls can have a sleepover and after initially being bothered by her moral tones and bookish habits they will discover that they can give her a makeover.
Andrea should be running for president by now, right? PostSecret had a lovely postcard last week saying 'I hope Hillary loses so that I can still be the first woman president'. I like to think that Andrea wrote that. If Rob Lowe can be running for president on Brothers & Sisters, Andrea can run on 90210. I bet Jesse fucked up her entire life.
I think it is great that Kelly will be the guidance counselor who can reminisce about the good old days to the new brats. Still, I always assumed that she would have a better career. Did they all go to a real university or just Community College? It never seemed very challenging for me which probably explains this career move. I had such high hopes for Kelly but I must admit that this will probably make me feel better about my own life.
I don't think it would be right to have Donna without David. At the very least, he should always be 'waiting in the car' or they can start every scene with Donna finishing a phone call to him. I hope people still mention having just had phone conversations with Brenda and Dylan, also.
Is there not going to be a set of twins from Minnesota? There has to be a set of twins from Minnesota. Still, this new liberal 'Mills' family sounds like it could be a suitable (trainwreck) replacement. 'Tabitha Mills' is a great character name, but she sounds too 'Beverly Hills' already and not very midwest.
Since all kids give one another blowjobs hourly now, will THE PROM episode still be a HUGE deal? It had better be! Perhaps there can be a lesson about terrorism. Did the original ever tackle terrorism? I think it is the only issue they missed! I'm sure they must have. Did the animal rights people count as terrorists? Not really.
Also, I hope that the Thanksgiving tradition continues where someone brings a tragic case like a homeless person or a gay teen home to dinner and everyone grimaces but eventually learns a valuable lesson and feels better about their own life.
I hope Brandon is dead.

So is Jennie Garth meant to be her character's age, or her real age i.e. about 53? How much time has passed between BH90210 and 90210?
I'm asking just in case Andrea does get invited back, since she must be menopausal in real life now.

AnnaLynne McCord sounds like she is playing exactly the same character as she does on Nip/Tuck. Doubt she's going to bake a fruit cake and put HIV in it though (or whatever the hell she's done to Julia).
Surely someone is going to sidle up to Kelly and start talking about how "they've heard so much about her" and thus will lead to one thing or another. And it's always good to have a scandalous teacher/pupil relationship!
I did love the original Beverly Hills 90210 even though the only full season I've watched is one, and then I dipped in and out of 2-5 and remember something vague about Brenda dating Clark Kent in Paris, or something. I am very excited about this though - Gossip Girl has revived my love for trashy high school melodramas and bring it on! I say.
