www.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds36956.htmlWas she any good on Corrie? I've seen her appear in every other ITV soap, but I never watched when she was on the street. I think I prefer her having breakdowns on Loose Women.

Maureen was always a bit of a fool. Being dippy, marrying Reg etc. Like a downmarket Mavis. But if Maude wheeled herself back in with her then I'd be very pleased. What the Street really needs is an angry, bitter, wheelchair bound old woman to sling decent barbs at Cilla, tell Liz to put on some clothes, Adam to cut his hair, Sarah Lou to keep her legs together and Claire to just snap her little mad self out of it.
Of course the actress is probably dead now, so it won't happen.

I hate to say it but Blanche hasn't been up to standard in recent months. And anyway, her rage comes from a character flaw (that she is and always has been a total bitch) and not because of what age, disability and having Sherrie Hewson as a daughter have conspired to do to her. So she can't get away with as much.

Hasn't Maud been retired to that shadowy sheltered accommodation where Corrie characters go to die to recover from the Street's hustle and bustle?
Phylis and Percy are meant to be there, I believe. In the olden days, of course, they used to send their characters to the knacker's yard in Derbyshire - or, ultimately, to Last Of The Summer Wine.
Why would Maureen come back anyway? It's not as if she's got family or friends in Weatherfield anymore?

She did? That makes sense then. She'll be back for his funeral.

To confirm: the actress that played Maud has died. She died 6 years ago. In Monte Carlo, no less.

Maureen left when she ran off with Bill Webster, Kevin's dad. He's coming back, so presumably Maureen's return fits in with that.
