bigbrother.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds10451.htmlI have been wondering about just how rigged BB is. The whole Golden Ticket thing was surrounded by accusations of it being rigged so that Susie went in. I read in one of the Sunday tabloids that she had told people she was going. Then each edition is slanted so that the person they decide has to go is shown in a negative light all that week. The ex housemates going back to the house next door is proclaimed as a stunt to get Nikki back in, and now Digital Spy alleges that there was heavy betting on her to win. I haven't spent a penny in voting, I don't feel strongly enough about any of them to do so, but had I cast my vote I'm sure that I would feel cheated. One of the unique things (at the time) about BB 1 was the fact that as a viewer you were instrumental in deciding who was evicted and who won, it seems that isn't even slightly true now. What do you think? It is just entertainment, does it matter if it is fixed?

I don't think for one second that Susie going in was fixed. People seem to be overlooking the obvious - if you were going to fix it, you wouldn't pick her! No, I don't believe it.
I think, to be honest, that it's a bit of a storm in a teacup. 'There are no rules' BB used to say as I remember, and while I can understand people being annoyed (and frankly now it's happened it is a complete damp squib so far) this isn't without precedent, and was hardly a massive surprise. The problem is them still being eligible to win, which is just ridiculous. That's when it stops feeling fair - manipluate the game however you like, but keep the basic system of nominations and voting in place regardless.

I wouldn't be surprised...Each year it seems to be more Truman Show than the year before, especially this year.
If we can imagine Pete as Truman for a sec.
Truman - A wacky, bumbling, gurning clown Pete - A wacky, bumbling gurning clown.
In Truman Show, we see his long lost dad return for those extra ratings In BB7 - Petes' estranged dad "sensationally" gets back in touch AND somehow he saves his mum from working in fast food restaurant.
Truman finally falls in love with the right woman from the outside world Peter has "sensationally" fallen for Nikki and only has 9 days to tell her or its too late or put another way The show finishes in 9 days and he must ensure he wins by having a relationship with Queen Nikki.
Ooh ive rambled..sorry.

American reality tv shows pull this type of shit constantly but here in the UK WE vote for who stays and who goes. It upsets me that these vile people I spent cash on evicting are going to get back in - it's utterly wrong. So the ratings are up slightly but the longterm damage could be ruinous. I dislike how Nikki, an Endemol employee (she has a new show with them) is probably going to get back in no matter what and this whole crap is being orchestrated for her benefit. Yet...yet it's backfired. Nikki going back is the worst thing that she could have done, she should have left us wanting more. She's a grotesque parody of herself now and she's being made to look like a monster. And she's allied herself with that evil Ferengi Grace.
Aisleyne to win.

It's not so much the putting people back in to win that annoys me (although if Grace gets back in that house I will not be happy!) but the blatant editing to destory whoever the producers don't like that has gone on for the past couple of series - and lately this has been added to by incredibly biased episodes of BBLB and BBBM, so the point that I have given up watching the lovely Dermot. I was thinking back to BB3 the other day, and how BBLB was during that - it had some genuinely funny segments like 'ginger watch' or weird Tim, and felt like it was made by and for people who genuinely loved watching BB - not it's all sound bites, bitching and just not funny.
When they put Jon back in BB4, it was the highlight of an (admitedly dull) series - but there was no suggestion of him winning. The great thing about Big Brother winners in the past for me - epitomised by Nadia - is up until the moment they actuallly win, they have no real idea what the public reaction to them has been. Putting ex-housemates back in to win destorys all this.
I'd love Aisleyne to win in a mass protest vote, but sadly I don't think it will happen.

Grace Dent's BB blog is fucking awesome.
Anyway regarding the whole fixing, buggering about with rules stuff, I think the worst things about it are that they're pissing on the mechanics that make the show work. You vote someone out, they're gone. You talk about someone in the diary room, they don't hear it...
...of course that's what Richard rightly said, 'you can be nasty in the diary room but not in the main house'. As usual hardly anyone else in the house seems to understand that, far from being the wrong thing to do, this makes utter sense socially and morally. When Dogface was sensationally revealing things Richard had said in the diary room, it was like watching the whole point of the show disappear to be replaced with what may be the show's defining characteristics if it carries on - paranoia, and constant questioning of the rules. As RTD said in the thread about 'surmising', this is just irritating and boring.

This is what I thought even back in BB1 with Nick. I didn't like his smile or his foamy saliva mouth, but he was just playing the game. Ditto Victor and Makosi and Richard.

Glyns punishment was very contrived. By banishing him from talking to the housemates he was not able to vote so he cannot cast a vote for Grace to enter the house. Therefore Nikki enters. In the words of Catherine Tate "Warra load of shit"

It's Reality TV Stalinism - that's what it is. All the dissenters silenced so that the "plan" can take effect. Crap. And as for Davina saying "it's cute" - I think I'm going to puke.

That is one of the single most sane things I have ever read. Grace Dent is my God. Check out her analysis of Grace (the housemate not Grace Dent analying herself for no reason) it's the most spot-on thing ever.
