I've only seen it on Sundays this year - and only a few times - cos it's on E4 alone this year, which I do think was a big mistake. However, what I've seen of it I've not been too impressed with. It's not funny like it was a few series back. It's like Heat magazine - brilliant when it started, now just like all the other mags, totally insipid and vapid with no real comment on anything.
So, do you think it's jumped the shark or is it just having a bad year?

For some reason it has recently returned to Channel 4. Just for this week I think. But it's pretty dull, yes.

It's certainly getting close if not yet on the post-shark off-ramp. I still think Dermot is hugely likeable but he seems far too aware of it now, and the whole mood of the show is very self-satisfied. There's also staggeringly little content - but I think it might have always been thus.
What always upsets me is when they get voxpops from tiny kids on the show - maybe I'm some Victorian prude but I don't think children should ever be let near a programme featuring people who chat about whisk-sex.

Yes, in January 2005.

The 'you know what? That Glyn is HILARIOUS!!' schtick is what killed it off.
I always enjoy the fact that Dermot and 'the team' always laugh hysterically at their own well rehearsed jokes. I'm the same.
The last item I remember being amused by was Weave Watch, 2005.

Dermot's obvious hatred and envy that Russell Brand is much better than him positively shines through every scene of BBLB.
He's so dull.

I never got the sense that Dermot is envious of Russell, more slightly unimpressed. And I think Russel senses that too (as much as is possible seeing as he is, like, totally on another planet.), he seemed a bit scared of Dermot when he was a guest on BBBM.
