I love Richard, and I'll tell you why. I have been watching hours and hours and hours of Big Brother every day for work since Big Brother 7 started, so I feel I know the housemates well.
He's witty, intelligent, self-assured and eloquent.
He gives really great advice, and he's always there to talk about problems.
He sees the good in Aisleyne even when others still criticise her (I don't particularly like her, but I'm not full of either vitriol or fluffy thoughts about her!)
He knows his own mind - and he knows his opinions. He doesn't back down from what he believes.
He's a great game player. I have hated how in the past BB viewers constantly vote out the interesting ones too early. They've not done too badly this year.
He has been accused of being scheming or a bully, but you can say the same of any other housemate. All of them have slagged off others and treated them negatively - even Pete!
In my opinion, he's just taking the piss most of the time. All of us lose our temper at some point - but he acts exactly like my old English teacher - a lot of the time he's just ripping the piss, and once you learn to take it like Nikki, it's fun. It's not meant to degrade them and lose them their self worth!
This: - just watch the bit when it comes to Richard's letter. If that doesn't reduce you to tears....well, it did me. It shows other hidden sides and things he's kept to himself all throughout the show. It's one of the most heartfelt letters of all of them.
And you have to watch this - it's just brilliant, and it's exactly what I'd want to do - .
I really hate how people like Imogen feel free to call him a bully and various names on the outside, but would never dream of standing up to him on the inside. He can fight back, and what people like Imogen and co want is a walkover. Richard is not a walkover. He is the antithesis.
He may be the antithesis, but he still has a softer side.
I don't think Richard will win, but I'd be extremely happy if he did. I think he's really, really fabulous and I've loved him since Day One.
Thoughts?

Oh PB you always chase the gay boys joke
A lot of people I've spoken too really hate him the most of anyone left, particularly his thunderbirds hat and evening glove outfit.
I rather enjoyed him being in the house, he's always had a sense of humour and been level headed while all the others have had hysterics.
He got a lot of stick for his treatment of Shabaz but given how annoying Shabaz was I would have been worse!
I reckon he'll be first or second out, he just won't get the middle England vote.

He is amusing at times but..............
He has the habit of disregarding his own insecurities by belittling other people first and making them feel inferior to him - UNLESS they are part of his little ganag (Nikki, Lea, Pete).
I know gay boys like that. I don't like them. I think they are twats. Therefore, Richard is a twat.
That is all.

I don't think coxy was implying all gay boys are like that, merely that people like Richard are not uncommon.

Out of all of them left in the house, after Aishleyne, I've enjoyed watched Richard the most, just for the way he has consisttently managed to be amusing - I love his little one liners taking the piss out of people like Nikki. I really went off him when he went into the house nest door though, because of his sucking up to Grace - probably part of his plan to be sucessful, but it made me lose respect for him.
And I LOVE how he keeps calling 'Glyn' 'Glen'.

So my thoughts are: Richard is a fairly entertaining twat.

I know gay boys like that Ahem...not all gay boys like that. Yeah, of course I know that, but a sizeable number are, and they're the ones who pop on on television. I also don't like him as the only sexual terror he's provided me with is in viewing the gradual journey south of his once 'quite' pert pecs. He's now merely a bald old trout in need of some new kecks.

Of late, Richard is the only one to make me laugh, apart from Glyn. This is quite worrying.

He ended up being my favourite housemate, mainly for his witty comments and fabulous diary room visits, but also for the way he reacted to his letter home, the fact he didn't milk the opportunity for sympathy, and the way he did seem to be agony aunt to them all. However, he did bully both Shabaz and Michael, were they the two other gay guys? Hmmm, issues methinks.

I still don't like him, but watching his eviction interview, I can see why a lot of people did. He's funny, and kind of charming in a weird, slightly smarmy way. But yeah, I agree on the whole "ish-yews, ploise" front.

Richard was gracious in the end. I appreciate the way his good side came through; it doesn't always but when it does it's nice.
He was very supportive of Aisleyne as he left - (in his fatherly way) admonsihing her to hold herself up and be proud of where she had gotten.

My mother voted for Richard. She couldn't explain why, and I pointed out that she'd just wasted 75p as he was never going to win.
It's because of people like me that the Lib Dems aren't in power, etc etc

Oh no, darling. That's Menzies Campbell's fault.
Richard had some good points and could be very kind, but he could be a nasty bitch. The difference between him and some of the others being that he felt bad about it afterwards, Grace. I do kind of get the impression that there's a sucking chasm of misery deep within him, only kept buried by bravado and pearls. I hope he finds a nice husband.

I like him. He could be a bit vile sometimes, but he sure was entertaining. His nominations and diary room chats were always quite hilarious and I'm glad he stayed until the last week. Of course I hadn't been sucked into this year's show in the first few weeks, so I didn't see any of the bullying with Shahbaz.
He also gained bonus points with me for going straight to Aisleyne when Davina called his name and telling her how well she'd done.

I saw a grand total of 1 episode of big brother this year (Chinese TV not carrying it for some reason) and for some inexplicable reason really liked Richard and wanted to go in the house and recieve his confidently given if fairly hackneyed advice. Considering I have typical subdued homosexual prejudice against massive, mincing, flaboyant Thunderbird gays this is strange indeed.
Gotta be witchcraft.
