Omg!
Like, a gay. A real one.
Well not quite, he rapes Matilda to try and assert his heteroness. He also has a boyfriend, although I think the most they show is a hug. It is Home & Away, after all.

Nope
It's a new guy Dean. Dunno whether he becomes a permanent character or not, he's pretty easy on the eye, not as nice as some of the others though.
There's some interviews/features about him/the storyline on the official site.

I am quite excited about the imminent arrival of a gay (has there ever been one in H & A) however given that he may also be a rapist it is going to take a while for him to become a sympathetic character. Besides if it's Matilda then I am going to end up feeling sorry for her and I don't want to do that as she pisses me off big style.

Er? A gay rapist? Is this to be commended in any way?
EDIT: Well, I read about it, and it doesn't seem so bad.
There has been a gay, or a proto-gay at any rate in H&A - Christopher, Pippa's son, was a little light on his feet and had a crushling on Seb.
And everyone is forgetting about Shannon's lesbionic crush with that writer woman. That was 10 years ago, people!

I can't help but feel the character/storyline wouldn't be out of place in Hollyoaks, what with the raping and all.

. And everyone is forgetting about Shannon's lesbionic crush with that writer woman. That was 10 years ago, people! A oo yes of course! it was all shrouded in double meaning - and the last night it came down to her choice to 'go and read poetry' in her older friends caravan or stay in Pippas with her fella. she went down on (to) her friends caravan. So god damn typical of H&A. No-one ever gets raped either, they get 'forced upon' or the more vague but popular 'attacked'.

I remember Chloe being attacked a lot.
And now she's dead.
Killed by Jesse.
Jesse. PHWOAR.
I've heard rumours about him, you know.

Coincidentally, I once saw someone who looked very much like him in a bar that's very popular with other gentlemen with shaved heads, on London's Old Compton Street.

I would have pounced on him.
I'm hoping you did similarly.

A gay (good?) rapist? Are you SURE it's Home and Away, not a certain other tea-time soap...?

Well we have had a straight "good" rapist in Kane. Why does the gay have to be a rapist? Can't he just happen to be a gay? Was the goth kid who was all black eyelinery gay? He was posh and clever.

Didn't he fall in love with someone?
Was his name Edward? Was it Petra that he fell in love with?

He wasn't gay. Not even a tiny bit. His whole storyline was about him and his girlfriend Peta (I despised the both of them. Oh and he had Huntington's(sp) disease also. EDIT: Also the Kane thing annoyed me to no end. He raped Dani, then got together with Kirsty and everyone loved him. Their dad was then portrayed to be weird because he still disliked him. I found the whole thing really unsettling especially since I actually grew to like Kane before he left.

Um raping? No. He realised he was being discovered and so flung himself on top of Matilda on the sofa but she sounded distinctly un-scared and if anything, a bit annoyed. No rapage. Sorry!

In teenage soaps, that's rape.

What is it with teatime soaps and rape anyway? Except Neighbours of course. You wouldn't get such shenanigans in Ramsay Street. thank the Lord.

Meh, 'raped'... 'forced upon'... I blame Home & Away's vagueness for this.

Phew, I am glad we have a bit of a break from "rapage" (great turn of phrase btw georgie!). We already have Tasha up the stick with her rape sprog, I think that's enough to be going on with.
