I like to imagine her, as Jacqui told the Farnhams, living on the Wirral with Tom the Woolyback. Don't crush my dreams.
I fucking hate Carla. I don't care about Liam and Maria but I love watching Carla get owned.

It's a weird, irrational thing. It's no particular aspect of the character, she just fills me with murderous rage. The only time it's had any actual correlation to the plot is when she was binting about at the baby's funeral in a big sulk because Liam wasn't paying her any attention.Other than that I just have to ignore her.

Gail Potter-Tilsley-Platt-Hillman-Platt's father has just turned up as a Nazi in Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade. Who'd have thought it!

Friday's episode was completely ruined by David and his cellmate discussing Alexa Chung as if she were (a) sexy and (b) human.
Anyone else recording Corrie and fast forwarding through the Maria/Liam/Carla scenes?

Clure will be needing the Cindy Beale memorial bag pretty soonish.

I missed the beginning of this tonight. Why is Leanne pulling pints in a cheap nightie?

Clure will be needing the Cindy Beale memorial bag pretty soonish. I know! Her breasts were quite distracting too. I did like the judicious use of a tea towel, but I think more use of the sofa and/or Ugly Baby Freddie is called for.

He's also an evil Nazi in "Force 10 from Navarone" The evil Russians sidekick in "The Saint" and the Admiral on the Warship that sinks the stealth boat in "Tomorrow Never Dies"

The bookie father actually works well with Liz. I also really like Becky and Jason. They just seem so natural together.
Weird that Molly pestering Tyrone about changes in the home is going on at the same time as Claire and Sally pestering their husbands about changes in the home. I keep waiting for the stories to cross paths.

Is anyone else as bothered as me that they're taking down the cladding? I consider it as iconic as the Rovers and the cobbles. I can't see a real reason for them wanting to take it down other than for a storyline that will be forgotten within months.

Oh dear:
Cotton signs two-year ITV deal Monday, May 19 2008, 09:18 BST
By Simon Reynolds, Entertainment Reporter
Antony Cotton will extend his stay on Coronation Street after signing a new two-year contract with ITV.
Cotton, who plays gay barman Sean Tully, has reportedly agreed a £120,000-a-year deal that will also allow him to develop his own projects at ITV.
"I look forward to some exciting new storylines in the Street and developing future programme ideas with ITV," Cotton told The Sun.
An ITV source added that Cotton may host his own gameshow.
"He's done well with his talkshow. Now we want him to try his hand at something different. A new gameshow is a big possibility."

£120,000 is a hell of a lot of St. Tropez.

Gotta say Tina is ridiculously good looking.
Agreed on Becky + Jason, just wish the scriptwriters would stop forking about with it.

Blanche! When they kept talking about her I thought they were working around Maggie Jones' injury and she wouldn't be appearing, but there she was. At least they're finally giving something to Janice's pointless plumber boyfriend, and we get to see something different for Deirdre and Ken.
Jack congratulating Vera on keeping the cladding in place was a touching scene. They also gave him the bulk of the material in Paul's last episode, thus saving it from being a pile of rubbish. I thought Paul was nice to look at, but probably better off leaving.
I didn't see some of Molly's earlier stories. Is this how she usually acts?
I think the new producer's work started last week. The comic stories are stronger than the dramatic stories, but for a show in transition, the episodes are at least entertaining, fun, and have a good mix of characters. Michelle has also become much easier to watch.

Liz's wedding photo was just class. She'd had more airbrushing done than me.

Were tonight's episodes written by the work experience girl? That was phenomenally bad, from the rubbish EastEnders hoodies (who were awake at 7am for no apparent reason), to the comedy potential of Claire's house sale being stretched to their absolute limits, to far too many scenes featuring Finlay reading off a card. Are all the proper writers on holiday? Plus the sight of the saggy, aging face on him out of Home to Roost just made me feel very old.

Agreed on most of your points - those bad boys were pathetic and i also wondered what they were doing up to no good at such an early time. Presumably on their way home from an all night illegal rave, them being bad boys and all that. And too many scenes of Sinbad's daughter (who looks about 8 yet fancies the bad boy ringleader who looked about 18). Terrible episodes!

My phone was busy tonight so I only saw some of it (I must stop moonlighting on those chat lines), but what I saw was piss poor. However, what was that comedy magazine I saw Norris reading? I tried to see if the cover stories were hilarious parodies but my friend was telling me a story about Mitzi Gaynor and I couldn't concentrate.

I loved Sally's opening line in one of the pub scenes: "so I just got a yellow duster and went over the tops".
It was completely irrelevant but it made me smile.

I liked the scenes with Emily, Rita, and Norris. It was nice to see Emily saying more than just a half a sentence before shuffling offcamera for another few months, and then Norris got to throw random insults at various bad parents. I also liked Tina taunting Audrey about how awful teenagers are, and the banter between Becky and Jason when Jason had to clean up the glass.
Corrie seems to excel more at writing the individual scenes than the big storylines.

Really, really good episode tonight, even with all the Morton stuff in it (Too little! Too late! etc). The completely incidental and not remotely significant story of Jessica Sykes, Kirk's first crush who turned out to be the 'woman from Burnage' who won the lottery was played out beautifully. And the scene with Rita, Norris and Emily self-consciously poring over the CCTC footage was fantastic.
