Gerry is my absolute favourite at the moment. I was just wondering what the consensus is about him...
I also really disliked Ziggy and Liam's behaviour on tonight's show. Gerry made a perfectly reasonable request for them to play with the other ball, correctly predicting that they wouldn't stop playing with it til it got kicked over the wall. I do think he's quite often a target as the only gay guy, and it was interesting that he mentioned this to defend himself against Ziggy and Liam, but nothing was made of it. It was the same when they jumped on him, and Ziggy said "Let me feel your penis..." - straight bravado making fun of the gay guy in a "harmless" way.
I feel it's a lost cause, and there's no way he's going to win, but it seems to be a lost cause every year!

I'd feel sympathetic, but he's courted this relationship by playing the part of Chiggy's handmaiden and generally isn't a very nice guy.

I like him better than the other men in there, but he is a Prima Donna. And a bit too precious about being the house intellectual. Ziggy was a total twunt tonight as usual, but Gerry reacted like a petulant child (see also Kylie task) not a 29 year old man.
I wish Lesley was still in there cos I think she and Gerry had the makings of a nice double act. Bloody Seany.

I felt sorry for Gerry too - and I appreciate they were drunk but the relish Liam took in telling Gerry about the ball, plus Carole's reaction was really quite nasty.
Is Gerry this year's Aisleyne?

Gerry is actually older than 29, he lies about his age.

Gerry is actually older than 29, he lies about his age. Well, it says 31 on the official site. While I admit he is quite petulant sometimes, I imagine it's very frustrating for someone like him to be stuck in a house with people like Brian, who can't connect with him at all. The whole "it's only a ball" argument wasn't fair, because it wasn't just a ball - it was a globe too. Gerry was also thinking of others - teaching the twins about geography - something which Ziggy never seems to do. I despair at the inevitability of this year's result. Brian is just Glyn from last year, and none of us wanted him to win.

The problem is, intelligent people tend to have too much sense than to go into the Big Brother house, unless they are a bit weird like Jonty, or John Tickle. Thick fame-hungry and money-hungry wannabes are the type of people who apply. Also when in the house the intelligent people are more likely to act more courteously and civilly and not argue and act like a prat, which is what gets you attention and air time and votes.

I wish Lesley was still in there cos I think she and Gerry had the makings of a nice double act. Bloody Seany. Lesley did say in her interview on Big Brother's Little Brother that she would have got on very well with Gerry. I did sympathise with Gerry in this particular argument about the globe ball, but to be honest I find him pretty annoying most of the time. He frequently acts like a spoilt child, throwing tantrums about his toy monkey as well as the Kylie thing. I may be deeply cynical, but I'm not really buying his "I just want to be accepted" speeches either. What annoyed me most about him was when he called Amy a "slag" when he had earlier boasted about sleeping with 3000 men or whatever and then got self-righteous saying he shouldn't be judged for being promiscuous. I seem to be passionately defending Amy a lot lately. It's odd, I'm not even sure I like her that much yet, but I fail to see what was so unforgivable about her role in choosing which housemates to swap over when they've been so nice to the other three involved in that decision.

Amy clearly wanted approval from Liam (and Ziggy) so went along with what they wanted never thinking about how it would reflect on her. Also she should have realised that as a new commer this nasty bunch of trolls wouldn't react to her well. She's no saint, but she's being treated slightly unfairly.
Gerry is not Aiselyene (sp?). He's a typical gay misogynist. If he likes women he treats them like dolls, if he doesn't he judges them against an unachievable standard and then condems them harshly when they don't measure up. He's a prick.

I cannot make my mind up about Gerry. I dislike the way he plays the gay card so often, and I dislike the way he flits between the supposed mature voice of reason and a stroppy little girl.
However, I definitely agree that he and Lesley would have been fantastic together. And I can't help but love some of the lines he comes out with - that one about Carole surviving an atomic bomb to cook for the cockroaches was genius.

I can't help but love some of the lines he comes out with - that one about Carole surviving an atomic bomb to cook for the cockroaches was genius. The best was "Who the hell is Adele?" last night. Totally echoing the thoughts of the nation. Couldn't they find a better known housemate from BB3 to join Alex - and why the hell did they just get them to play darts etc? A wasted opportunity, which looked like they were short on ideas - but that's probably being discussed on another thread.

Poor Gerry. He was right about the history questions task - if he hadn't been in there, they wouldn't have even got 7 out of 10. But cos Liam's got Carole, Tracey and Brian's support, he can get away with smugly teasing Gerry for failing the task.

Maybe if Gerry hadn't been so nakedly gleeful about joining in the pack mentality against Nicky when it existed I'd feel a tad more sorry for him now that it's inevitably turned against him.
It's what you get when you do everything in your power to get the smug macho straight men in power in the house ; they turn on you first, because you're the gay guy.

Even though he can be petulant, patronising and very smug I still like Gerry. I feel quite sorry for him because even though he is a big show-off he clearly has an enthusiasm for trying to educate people and none of them really want to be educated. As far as the other HMs are concerned his biggest crime seems to be being proud of being clever.
I also feel a bit sorry for him because him and Ziggy were quite close when Ziggy was with Chanelle and now that Liam is Ziggy's NBF he doesn't like Gerry.
Finally, post-Amy and his utterly spineless treatment of her I now hate Liam and Liam doesn't like Gerry so I like Gerry.

Seeing as the Guru's get to choose who gets booted out of the house on Friday I expect it'll be Gerry that goes.
Although why anyone will pay to nominate a housemate when the utimate decision will be by the Guru's I do not know.
BB is so shit this year

Oooh, there's a lot of love for Gerry from all of the sensible people over at the Times Big Brother blog. Because they are the enemies of Gerry they all seem to hate Carol and Liam as well. timesonline.typepad.com/big_brother/After all of the lovely lowculturers I think the Times bloggers may be my favorite Internet people.

This is the first year I've never really watched Big Brother, although the first time I did see it a month or two ago I was shocked to see Gerry, as I knew him at university when I was doing my degree and I think he was maybe doing a post-grad.

Well I didn't know him too well, he was an acquaintance really, rather than a friend.
While I've heard that in the BB house he was one of the quieter, more sensible ones in reality it was kind of the opposite (which probably says more for the kind of people on BB compared to real life). He was always very loud and very camp, in addition to definitely being a definite man-slut who shagged quite a lot of people. I recall a popular going-out outfit of his was a black kilt and a very tight t-shirt.
Clearly it was a famous couple of years at Edinburgh Uni. I met Darius Danesh a few times (tit) and Izzy from Hollyoaks was in one of my classes for all of about 2 seconds until she got her open audition into Hollyoaks.
