My secret pop shame is "Seven Tears" by the Goombay Dance Band. It was number one in 1982!
If you don't know it, download it now and marvel at the "moving" lyrics and the key change to die for.

If I remeber rightly, it was #1 for weeks*! I remember them appearing on TOTP in gold lame suits....fantastic! *or it just seemed like weeks, which is more likely the case.

The fire eating was always very exciting. Certainly made up for the fact that German schlager at its laziest had finally topped the UK charts (and indeed happened again a few months later with Nicole).
If you listen to the tune it's actually quite nice. Better than 'Sun Of Jamaica' anyway...

I remember the gold lame suits too. And one of them had a blonde afro.
And on a similar theme I went to see a gig last night and one of the support bands was called Opus - which caused me to launch into a chorus of Life is Life.....I was the only one, however.
