I'm a sucker for all those half price, 3 for £20 type sales at the music stores and my CD collection really is the bargain bin selection.
Virgin have a sale on at the moment where there is an eight CD colection of '80's music and it only costs £10.
It's mostly early '80's stuff and mostly acts from the UK, lots of great tracks.
I had to try really hard to stop myself from buying it, but now I'm thinking about going back.
What I worried about is that it's all so retro, my parents bought records up until the late '70's then just went back in time buying up all the stuff they never actually had in the '60's, is this the begining of my decline?

I went through that last year. Bought loads of old CDs, downloaded lots more through kazaa, that sort of thing. That pretty much exhausted my appetite for older stuff and I've bought more new CDs this year than I have done for about 5 or 6 years, and I'm loving it.

There's a phrase that's been ruined forever. I wouldn't worry about the retro-ness of it though, it's still just about 'with it' to be knowingly and ironically retro, and by the time that it isn't anymore you'll be irrefutably old and you'll just be acting to type.

Do not worry. It's good to know where current music got it's influences from. And, you'll know the answers if ever you're in a pub quiz, you poor soul.
