I'd just like to add that the new album from Rihanna (spit) is completely chockfull of amazing lyrics... Breakin' Dishes: "I ain't demented Well, just a little bit I'm kicking asses I'm taking names"
"I'm breaking dishes on your head all night I ain't gonna stop until I see police lights"
"I'm killing time, you know, bleaching your clothes I'm roasting marshmallows on the fire And what I'm burning is your attire" Shut Up and Drive: "I've been looking for a driver who is qualified So if you think that you're the one step into my ride I'm a fine cool supersonic speed machine Got a sunroof top and a gangster lead" Lemme Get That: "Got a house but a need new furniture"

Dubstar are a goldmine of gloriously mean-spirited Northern bile. They were doing it when Alex from the Arctic Monkeys was in primary school.
From Girlfriend....
"I am the gum on your shoes / The prostitute who rings your family...

I still love the entire lyrics to "I'm Conscious Of Myself" by Dubstar. But especially...
"Don't you just love my arse?!"
If anyone is curious about the rest of the song, i'm willing to upload.

All of The Libertines' songs have brilliant lyrics, but I especially like the end of Vertigo:
"The rapture of vertigo And letting go Me myself I was never sure Was it the liquor Or was it my soul?"

I only learned a few nights back that in Fall Out Boy's Dance Dance it's "Why don't you show me the little bit of spine that you've been saving for his mattress".
As opposed to 'that little bit of spunk', which is what I'd always thought, and was in fact singing at the time.

Possibly the entire of Gonna Leave You by Queens of the Stone ge. Absolutely! But in particular -- "I gave it a start, I stomped on your heart, This is the end, No more pictures, we ain't friends"

"I'm ganna miss you like a child misses their blanket."
Oh Fergie how I love you so. I've just had a proper laughing fit at this line, like a dentist had left the gas on.

Possibly the entire of Gonna Leave You by Queens of the Stone ge. Absolutely! But in particular -- "I gave it a start, I stomped on your heart, This is the end, No more pictures, we ain't friends" They write ace lyrics. Looks at Feel Good Hit Of The Summer that consists entirely of 'Nicotine, Valium, Vicodin, Marijuana, Ecstacy and Alcohol.... c-c-c-c-cocaine.'

I've caught the Arctic Monkeys craze a bit late cause I was deliberately avoiding them because of the hype, but I bit the bullet and went to see them at T in the Park, and some of their lyrics are genuinely fantastic. Sometimes I think lyrics can seem a lot more special than they are, if you say them right, such as:
"Now then mardy bum, I see your frown and it's like looking down the barrell of a gun" "When you're all... argumentative, and you've got the face on"
When The Sun Goes Down is actually just a song about Tommy Sheridan, I'm sure of it.. "And I've seen him with girls of the night And he told Roxanne to put on her red light It's all infected but he'll be alright Cause he's a scumbag, don't you know"
"Look here comes a Ford Mondeo Isn't he Mister Inconspicuous? And he don't even have to say 'owt She's in the stance ready to get picked up"
"What a scummy man Just give him half a chance I bet he'll rob you if he can Can see it in his eyes that he's got a nasty plan I hope you're not involved at all" <----- Tommy Sheridan. Just substitute Ford Mondeo for Honda Civic and we're rollin'..
"You used to get it in your fishnets Now you only get it in your night dress Discarded all the naughty nights for niceness Landed in a very common crisis"
I would also like to echo the appreciation for Lily Allen's Nan You're A Window Shopper.

I love Arctic Monkeys. A combination of them being everywhere when I was in Upper Sixth and them singing about being in a scuzzy northern town means they remind me a lot of home in a sort of nostaligic-but-I'm-glad-I'm-not-there-really way. My favourite is Bigger Boys and Stolen Sweethearts:
There's always somebody taller with more of a wit And he's equipped to enthrall her And her friends think he's fit And you just can't measure up no, you don't have a prayer Wishing that you'd made the most of her, when she was there They've got engaged there's no intention of a wedding He's pinched your bird and he'd probably kick your head in
Bigger boys and stolen sweethearts Oh you're better off without her anyway You said you wasn't sad to see her go Yeah but of course you were though
Special mention must go to Fake Tales of San Francisco though: 'Yeah but his bird says it's amazing so all that's left Is the proof that love's not only blind, but deaf'
