Why? I watched it earlier and I thought it was excellent. Despite some serious on going flaws Eastenders can often be moving, entertaining and dramatic.
Lacey Turner deserves all the praise in the world for her standout performance as Stacey Slater. I haven't seen soap acting that good since Suranne Jones.
Whilst I would say that Eastenders has not been punching its weight for a long time, after last night it is clear that it still has plenty of fight left in it.

I have a problem with Eastenders.
I'm hooked right and I don't want no hassle from no-one about it. I love the fakeCindy stalking, Stacey and Sean's manic mother and the Mitchell sisters.
Last night I loved Jane's every move being sucrtinised last night by almost every other female character until they almost turned into a Greek chorus. I enjoyed Stacey trying on rubbish wedding dresses with her trembling mum for the wedding she dosen't want. I quite fancy the carpenter with a dodgy past and want him to ruin Billy's life soon.
Yes, there is not a match for Blanche or even Deirdrie I still believe there is life in the old dog yet. Plus - Claire is coming back!

I *so* know what you mean.
I watched the Sunday omnibus for the first time in ages this weekend and actually enjoyed it, even though I wished someone had pointed out to Jase that half the residents had also been in prison when they took turns shunning him. Denise in particular had some great lines and some good comedy moments. It was just so much better than I expected.
But then I watched Corrie in the evening and realise that as good as Eastenders is, it just can't beat Corrie. Sally's line about the neckerchief was effortlessly brilliant.
And in Jase's pantie stealing son, Eastenders have a child actor who threatens the Webster supremacy of soap kids. He really is a find, although his scenes with Ben just go to show how bad Ben is.

Shirley and Evah (sorry, Heather) are 2 good reasons to keep Eastenders at the moment.

Yes she's been in the last couple of episodes.
I think if I was a fatty I would find the Heather character really offensive. But I'm not, so its pretty funny.
