This was tonight's film. It wasn't what I thought it would be at all. It was, though, an amusing introduction to certain ideas but I've been reading up on that whole ex-gay movement so some of it was rankling with me- the answers were too easy. But I could see exactly what they were trying to do, because it came across as a beginner's John Waters film (aside from Hairspray and Serial Mom which already were his training-bra films), with all its exaggerations and black-and-white delineations, so that was to be expected. Visually it was quite interesting, a cross between Ma Vie En Rose and Toys (which I have a secret weakness for). Am I the only one that thinks they picked Natasha Lyonne simply because they couldn't get Melissa Joan Hart? I don't know why I got such a strong sense of "Sabrina Goes Gay"...

Oh, and it says on IMDB that Rufus Wainwright wrote a song about Natasha Lyonne- the one called Natasha, obviously. Does anyone know why?

I don't know about the song, sorry. I do know, however, that I love this film and the message it gets across.
I love the fact that it has a strong cast and a few teen cult hotties including Eddie Cibrian, Ru Paul as you've never seen her/him before and the girl that played opposite Kate Winslet in Heavenly Creatures. The irrepressable lesbian is also Teen Trash in Popular, hooray!

I love this film, it's so funny. I tried to explain it to my RS clas tho, and they totally thought it was porno. My teacher just looked at me like, you odd little faerie.

Clea DuValle is also in this, playing pretty much the same character that she played in The Faculty. The film gets extra points for having Cole from Sunset Beach in it. With little clothes.
