Has anyone actually seen this? www.dirtydancinghavananights.comI don't know whether it got/is going to get a cinema release here. It features a rather skinny looking Y Tu Mama sexpot Diego Luna and Romola Garai who was supposed to be hot stuff for a while. Best of all, I heard a wicked rumour that Patrick Swayze makes a cameo as a dance instructor who tells The Kids to “have the time of their lives”. How fucking ace? The soundtrack features Black Eyed Peas and Christina Aguilera. I'm sure that someone expected this film to be huge, but it seems to have disappeared without a trace. It's available on Region 1 DVD from Play USA, I know where I'm heading right now, credit card details in my tremblin fist... UNLESS I can see it in a cinema at some point in future time and space.

I heard about this ages ago too. Haven't seen anything about it in the cinema. It might go straight to video over here.

It was meant to be released in May, then I read on IMDB it was 13th August. I have also been scanning the cinema listings in the last few days, and have seen no reference to it at all. I'm guessing it's going to go straight to video.
I bought the soundtrack because it was on sale, and because I thought one I'd seen the film I'd want to buy (and half of the population who of course, will have rushed to their local mulitplex to see the film) and thought I'd be smart and buy it early. It's not as good as I thought it would be, but I've only heard it once so it might grow on me.

I hope it does get released over here. Diego Luna, dancing. I was sold as soon as I heard about it.

Woo it comes out on DVD today! I bought it already from a bargain bin in Poland. It's actually alright. Patrick Swizzle is indeed in it and dances quite a bit. Romola Gari's mum wears some fab Liz Taylor-esque outfits. In keeping with the original, the music is appropriately non-fifties.
Diego Luna is rather aesthetically pleasing in it, I must say. He looks a bit rubbish at the start, but improves with the addition of smiling and the subtraction of clothing.
