Is just (in my opinion) the best film ever and well deserves its own thread.
The sequels suck badly but the origional was ace.
The effects can still hold their own today despite being made over ten years ago so Hurrah for Jurassic Park.
p.s it has Sam Neill in a cowboy hat and Jeff Goldblum in leather trousers pwoar!

It still is AMAZING.
I almost killed my sister the other day because she couldn't recall every single scene in the right order.
Why is it so great?
- It is still scary. You never doubt that the dino's are there [apart from the big diplodocus or whatever they see first]. The T-Rex is still way better than any of the Walking With Dinosaurs. [The scene where Sam Neill pretends to slash the little boys stomach like a Velociraptor still gives me the chills]
- There is a huge build up in suspense and pace, so that when the storm begins you are so involved that you still jump every time the goat's leg hits the window even though you know it's coming.
- It is massively quotable - "turn the light off!", "clever girl"
- You fancied all of the men when you were 10 because they were the epitome of heroes, and so you still have something there although you'd never admit it.
- Action, Sci-Fi, Humour, Adventure, bit of Romance, Heroics, and just some really really clever scenes.

It was on ITV1 a while back and they cut out all the best bits 'thats a big pile of shit', the guy who hates Seinfeld getting mauled and the guy getting his head and shoulders removed by the T-Rex
So I bought it on DVD and it IS excellent. The end suffers a bit from a deus-ex machina, but what the hell
It's also subject to possibly the best movie reference in Spaced

I remember this came out at the same time as the Super Mario Brothers movie, and I wanted to see that, but my mum tricked me into seeing Jurassic Park instead (well, a ten year old doesn't really pay attention to what screen they're going into, do they?)
I sat screaming through the whole thing, but I utterly loved it. When the fat guy gets spat at by the cute/demon dino, I almost threw up into my popcorn. It was the single most thrilling cinematic experience of my life.
I actually really liked the third one too, but that could just be because Alessandro Nivola is in it. The second one is rubbish. The little girl doing gynmastics? Terrible.
And I never did get to see Super Mario Brothers...

I'm really looking forward to Jurassic Park 4, with Stephen Speilberg back in the helm it should bring the series back to its true glory. Jurrassic Park 3 is only good because that fit man (I think someone mentions him) has the biggest package I've ever seen in a non-porn film. Every time I watch the film I manage to spend that whole time looking at his crotch. He is so fit.
Jurassic Park was and is a magical experience. That first time I saw it at the cinema brough about so much excitement and a mix of feelings and it lived up to every expectation.
Lord of the Rings has is the only other film to acheive a similar feeling.

There was a review of the first draft of JP4 on aintitfatblokeslaggingoffthosewhodontgivefreebies and the plot was, and I kid thee not, the dinosaurs were going to be genetically engineered so that they would form an anti terrorist group with cannons et al strapped to their backs.
I think its going for a re-write.

I actually really liked the third one too Me too. I thought the way they got Dr. Grant back on the island was very good. It was too quick a build-up to actually being on the island though, and over too quickly. They land on the island, run for 90 minutes and then it's over. But the satellite phone thing is genius, even if Spinosaurus not very scary. And I loved the Pterodactyls. I would have liked a few slower areas of the film where they delve into the science a bit more, and discover what really went on on the second island. Maybe they could have discovered some dodgy dealings going on, or weird cross-breeding or something. I mean, do we ever find out how the Spinosaurus came about? That way there'd be periods of slow, building intrigue like in JP1, with moments of dino-running in between. Sorted.

I was seriously expecting this film to be slated when i came on.
I've read some spoilers for JP4 apparently Kiera Knightely turned down a role and so did David Boreanez.
Although Richard Attenburgh is supposed to be back.

I saw JP1 when it was first released at one of the big screens in Leicester Square, it was really crowded so we had to sit in the front row. When the T-Rex attacked I remember screaming really loudly like a litlle girl (I was about 20 at the time).

Well I try to avoid scary films, but yes I scream like a little girl (or Ned Flanders).
