This is an odd film. It's obscenely pretty. It was about China, which I'm very interested in, raced through it's superficially simple plot in an interesting manner and the guy who played Broken Sword was not an ugly man. But I'm still not sure if I liked it. It seemed to be celebrating an almost fascistic authority (the Qin sections seemed very imperial Star Wars) and loyalty to the nation above all else. I also felt that it manipulated my sympathy for the Qin emperor in an unpleasant way.
I'm confused. What does anyone else think?

How did it end? I fell asleep about 20 minutes before it finished.

As far as I can make out, the plot was an excuse to show as much really lush looking stuff and some funky kung-fu as possible
The set pieces aren't as excellent as Crouching Tiger but on the whole it's more of an eye candy experience
I felt for poor Tony Leung. How many times did he die, exactly?
And autumn changing colour is one of the most beautiful things I've seen on film ever

SP had high hopes for this as he's like totally in love with the director but apparently it's the only bad film he's ever made. Disappointing to a high degree as this was being seen as his big chance.

Tell SP he sounds a bit like one of those people bitter because the band he liked when they played fetid dives are now popular.
