I remembered last night how much I *heart* this film. For the following reasons: -
1. Dolly Parton is another one of my homegirls. 2. Jane Fonda looking frumpy: post Barbarella, pre aerobics videos. 3. Lily Tomlin - an underrated comedy great. 4. Fantasy sequences decades before Sunset Beach was ever thought of. 5. Women being strong, fabulous and camp - all at one and the same time. 6. Jokes involving corpses are always funny. 7. Jane Fonda's quip about "playing sex games and doing M&Ms" at her loverat ex-husband. 8. Three women getting that stoned off a couple of quaaludes and a single measly joint. 9. The theme tune. Don't forget the theme tune. 10. The drunk who gets turned into a born-again glamour girl (with scary hair) in the space of about a fortnight - yet another proto-Sunset Beachism

Oh yes. I ended up staying up far later than I'd planned last night to watch this. It's one of my favourite comedies of all time, still great to watch all these years later.

I think you're thinking of Steel Magnolias, where Dolly runs a beauty parlour and has a pre-stardom Julia Roberts as a diabetic daughter.
9 to 5 is about three women (Dolly, Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda) who get their revenge on a 'sexist egotistical hypocritical bigot' boss. It's a late 70s female empowerment movie. And it's v funny.
