As I'm sure you all know Christopher Reeve is dead.
You younger things might all see Dean Cain as Superman but for me he was always Christoper Reeve.
I saw all three films as they came out at the cinema, they were groundbreaking for their time, and although they haven't fared as well as Star Wars over the passed few decades they were regarded very highly on their release.
Funny, scary and a little bit sexy. I particularly liked SupermanII with the three baddies, Ursa, Non and General Zod (Sarah Douglas, Jack O'Halloran and Terence Stamp).
It's hard to believe he was only 52.

I must admit I was shocked, even through my abscess-riddled head. I remember seeing him in a remake of 'Rear Window' after his accident and thinking then how brave he was to carry on acting even after what'd happened to him.
I read on the teletext obituary that the paramedics had to reattach his head to his spinal cord at the scene of the accident. Makes me feel a little nauseous thinking about that.
RIP, Mr.Reeves.

Oh yeah, he's the only Superman. I always preferred him in Clark Kent mode though, apart from the time Superman went mental and straightened up the Leaning Tower of Pisa, that was great. I like how they conveyed his temporary evilness just by making him unshaven.
He actually did a lot of cool stuff for folks with disabilities in terms of pushing for research into spinal cord memory research and repeatedly slagged Geroge Bush for being opposed to genetic therapy. He was a pretty tough guy, I guess Superman's antics rubbed off on him.

Superman II remains to this day one of my favourite childhood films. Terence Stamp and Margot Kidder in the same movie - genius.
"You know lady, you're a real pain in the neck."
*Lois throws Evil Superwoman over her head*
Such a shame about Christopher Reeve. He showed real bravery in carrying on like that after such a horrifying experience. A great many other people would have just given up.
I'm still not liking the constant punning reference to 'steely resolve and determination' in the obituary coverage though. That's got 'crass' written all over it in six feet high pink letters.

..and his blue was darker to.
Thats a tearful moment when the evil Superman is destroyed and Clark Kent rips open his shirt to the strains of that music...
..then they go back to that Richard Pryor guff.
