Anyone else seen it? I was a bit dissapointed myself, didn't add much to the story. It just seemed to be a few funny lines/scenes added here and there well apart from Saruman/Mouth of Sauron

!SPOILERS!
I was especially disappointed by the Saruman scenes.
There were a few scenes that I really did like though. In particular, the witch king confronting Gandalf, the extra Faramir and Eowen scenes (gotta love Eowen kicking ass!), Aragorn taunting Sauron.
The extra Frodo and Sam scenes in Mordor were awful.
All in all it was worth watching but I still prefer the original cuts of the films except with Two Towers.

I'm fully expecting the extended edition for Christmas, I love LOTR and any extra footage is welcome for a die hard fanboy.
It's true that it rarely adds to the story (that's why it was originally edited out).
I like to listen to the directors notes on filming, I doubt many other people bother.

I've finished the cast comentry and usually do the directing one. I have yet to finish a full design commentry due to the dull tones of Richard Taylor (I met him once, legend!)
With Fellowship it has to be extended With Two Towers it's nice to watch the extended with all the Borromir bits n that Return of the King - I could live without it

I thought the Two Towers extra scenes really added to the movie. All of the Faramir scenes really helped to make sense of the character, the same with Return Of The King too I guess. Glad to see a good side to Boromir too. Despite initially not liking Sean Bean in LOTR I grew to really like him in the part, one of my favourite characters in it. I also loved the Ents and the trees (I forget their true name!) that kill all of the Orcs running away at the end. Fellowship just seemed to have extra scenes that padded it out, nothing spectacular. I'm with you on Return Of The King, none of the extra scenes were really necessary and at times I thought made the film slightly worse.

And I know the ending got critised for being too long but they've added nothing to like the last 10 scenes at all when that's the place I would have liked more personally.
On watching some of the documentrys I LOVE the fact Peter Jackson hadn't seen the full version before the Wellington premiere
