Based on the trailers for this (which seem to be everywhere at the moment) does anyone else think that this looks rubbish? I hope it won't be as my boyfriend will drag me to see it anyway but I don't have a lot of hope at the moment. Mark Wahlberg! Why?!

Having also seen the trailer, I would say that you don't really need to see the film because the entire plot is explained therein.

Has anyone seen this yet? It has been getting cracking reviews but I am still a bit concerned about seeing it. This is mainly because, had it not been for the godlike presence of Daniel Day Lewis, Gangs of New York would have ranked among the 5 worst films that I have seen in a cinema. All the reviews for that were really good as well. The reviews were WRONG.
Plus it has Mark Wahlberg in it. This can never be a good thing.

I saw it on Sunday and really enjoyed it. It reminded me a bit of Heat, in that you have the two main characters who don't have any scenes together.
Jack is Jack, but Leonardo and Matt are both very good, the latter particularly is like an older, more assured Tom Ripley.
Ray Winstone's accent is shit, and Mary Mark is surprisingly very good in very much a supporting role.
And finally, I wouldn't have been surprised to find the plot had been loosely inspired by something Shakespearean.
Movie watch recommendation: 9.

The film is a remake of a Japanese film called "Infernal Affairs"

It was rather good. It took about an hour for me to really understand what the hell was going on, but hey. Jack was fabulous (he wore great ties, too), as was Marky Mark. It's a shame that Leo left me underwhelmed. And is it wrong that I found Jack to have sex appeal even at his age (69 I think)?

I saw this the other day and Mark Wahlberg was one of the best things in it. I know that doesn't sound like much of a recomendation, but I loved the film and he was bloody brilliant. Maybe he's going to be like Sharon Stone, who gave one great performance in a Martin Scorsese film (Casino) and then went back to being shit.

I had the option of seeing this on Friday night, but then I realised that it was a Martin Scorsese film with Leonardo DiCaprio in it. The last film I saw with those qualities was The Aviator, and I'm not making that mistake again.

I rather liked this, though it was all a bit violent and grisly and full of horrible men and no pro-active female characters. Scorsese really has a problem with women. He should just admit he's got a hard-on for Leo and make a gay porn film or something.
And actually, I'm ashamed that I still fancy Leo, even after all these years. It's like a horrible sickness.

I really liked this, went to see it with last night, I've never been keen on Leo but I quite liked him in this. I find it hard to fault any of the cast Nicholson, Affleck, Baldwin, Walberg and Sheen were all brilliant.
It was a bit over long but it's Scorsese so you can't really expect anything else.

Am meant to be going tonight. I have no problem at all with blood and violence but only in the context of fighting. I am not very good with torture - I can't even watch the bit in 'The English Patient' where Willem Dafoe gets his thumbs cut off! Am I going to be scared?

Well my new man, ie. still doesn't know me too well, asked if I was ok with all the shooting when we came out.
It isn't so much torture but lots of people die and there is lots of blood but it all seems in context.

No, although there were a few times when I was a bit worried that scary Jack Nicholson might torture lovely Leonardo DiCaprio and smash up his lovely face.

I only saw this recently. It was rather good indeed. One thing that was driving me crazy towards the end though was... where the fuck was Marky Mark? Why did it take him so long to turn up? Wouldn't it have made sense for him and Leo to have teamed up? I know Marky Mark was on suspended leave, but that's no reason.

I liked this film. And I'd do Leo. Anytime. Anyplace. Anywhere.

I thought it was funny that Jack Nicholson wore that t-shirt with 'IRISH' written across it - just in case the audience were a bit stupid and couldn'tfollow a story!

I thought it was great!!! A few too many "false" endings but I was left satisified with the conclusion.
As for Marky Mark- really not as bad as we might have guessed. Barely understood a word he was saying though.
