This is one of those love or loath fims. I loved it even though it disturbed me. The scene where the psychologist exposes himself to the full force of the sun made me want to run shrieking from the cinema. Other than that, shit hot. Danny Boyle has redeamed himself from the sack of crap that was The Beach. The sfx are brilliant too.

Ooooh I really liked this. It was amazingly beautiful and really tense. I did catch myself thinking at a few points though, "if Cillian Murphy wasn't so fit, would I be enjoying this as much as I am?" And the answer to that is "no" but his fitness only adds to the aceness of the film. I loved the ghettofabulous space suits. I must say though, I don't believe a little crappy shield would have protected them from the sun and what was all that running about on a cube at the end? Was that the bomb? I kept getting confused about where they were.

I think all the running about at the end was 'sposed to show time and space being bent as they got near the suns surface. Do be honest I thought it was just dodgy projection work at first. I think the cubey thing was the payload, yep.
Have to agree with you. It was beautifully shot.

I wasn't really sure about the end, when it inexpcliably turned into a slasher movie (and not the good kind of slash; I wouldn't have minded Cillian and not-ginger-Chris Evans getting it on) but I did think the build up was amazing. My favourite part was when they were looking at Mercury from the shield; the whole scene was really astoundingly beautiful.

From the trailers I was convinced that, at least once, the president of America would speak to the whole world via some sort of web cam - complete with views of crowds in exotic and far flung places. Rumours tell me this isn't true which can only be a good thing.

I actually found it painful to watch-my eyes and ears hurt. the first hour was better than the second.
and my, doesn't 28 weeks later look rubbish?

the first hour was better than the second. Seconded - the last half an hour went a bit bonkers, and I don't think it really helped the film. The way they introduced the "twist" or whatever it was, was also crap. It just kind of happened. It would have been better if they had shown an extra pair of eyes/body as they shot through the air lock back to Icarus 2, to make you think "uhoh! Who the hell is that?" Instead it was just done a bit lamely. But, sigh. Rose Byrne is beautiful. 28 weeks later will be good just for her presence.

I finally got around to seeing it this afternoon, having been told by 4 people that it was rubbish, and I really, really liked it. Even though it's another variation on the And Then There Were None idea, the characters were all rounded and none resorted to cliche.
I echo most of the praise from earlier posts, and agree on how beautiful Rose Byrne is. She's one of cinema's best kept secrets and I'm quite glad she's not overexposed (apart from those make up adverts).
Chris Evans and his arms reminded me why I haven't tired of having him as my laptop wallpaper, and proved that he's actually a good actor.
And Jane Fonda's son is in it! He's the man who isn't Cillian Murphy or Chris Evans, or the Japanese man or the guy from The Bill or the one from Runaway Jury.
